hermies, a few christmases ago, me and 3 friends went to IHOP for breakfast. We are all childless, no close families and 2 are widows. It was one of the best breakfasts! And yes, no dishes.
Today Bippy and DH are going for a bike ride in the hood, then finishing travel trailer for our weekend camping next Friday. Sooo lookin forward to it! Our bike club will be there too, cannot wait to see them. My WBCs must be bouncin back, feel ok this morning.
Best to all, have a nice Saturday

*Good Morning Hermits*
Bippy, pleased to hear that you're feeling better!
-
Good morning hermits- hope everyone is waking up to a nice day. I am going to go do some jazzy music jamming this morning, which I have not had time to do in over a month. I miss my music peeps!
Footprints- this is a great thread, one of the first I found when I first joined two years ago and has been my favorite all the way along. Nice ladies here in all stages with this junk, from those in active treatment, to post treatment follow ups (me), and those living with this disease. We try to be a friendly non judgmental place for people to share whatever is going on, good or bad. We have a few laughs here too. We hope you will stay, and be part of the conversation.
Bippy- you must be feeling better to take a bike ride. Good for you!
I went one year back in the 1980s to Howard Johnsons with a friend for Thanksgiving. We were both struggling with some family issues at the time with our families of origin, and decided to opt out of the family get togethers. We had a great time, and no dishes or family drama either!
Mags- how are you doing?
Lili- are you out there and let us know how you are doing too please? Good or bad, we are hear to listen.
Hope everyone has a day of feeling good.
-
Oh i am here but been really struggling last month or so, not able to keep the tears in, and just really hating how my life is, trying to taje charge and nake changes, but no money, no job, does not make it easy, but I am making some changes that do reduce stress.........jazzy how much weight have you lost? Your trainer sounds great.......
-
Good morning, Hermies. I am recovering from my first evening out. Our church hosted the Gaither Vocal Band last night; we got tickets a couple of months ago on faith that I'd be up to it, and I did ok. It's a huge church (sanctuary holds 3200 people) so a lot of walking. But the performance was great, lots of audience participation, lots of comedic relief. I actually put on a bit of makeup, a touch of mascara on my twelve remaining lashes, wore my wig, looked mostly normal. It was a good evening, but long. We had to get there early as it was sold out and we wanted to have decent seats, and it ended around ten, so I went right to bed when we got home. DH was energized, and stayed up til 2. This morning I am sore all over, my knees hurt bad, but I'm glad I went. It's the first time I've been to church since my surgery. I felt pretty self conscious, just not used to the wig, I put some body tape on my head, so I knew it wasn't creeping up, but it felt like it. DH took a pic of me and my cousin, so I'll let you be the judge. Don't know why my cheeks are so chubby.
-
Mags- you look really great! I am glad you got out, gives one a sense of feeling normal, at least for a few hours. Those outings do a person good. You really look like you were having a good time. I like that nice smile!
Lily- more inches and % fat vs. muscle so far. My body fat is down by 25% but got replaced with muscle. I have lost a few pounds, but now that the muscle is built up, I am working hard to loose the excess weight. I saw I lost a pound this week.
That part is going to be slow. I remember the oncologists telling me once you go on any of the AI drugs, you have to exercise like 5-6 times a week to loose any weight. So I am ramping up my cardio to that now as we reduce the weight lifting. So more to follow, and yes, she has just been so good for me. We will finish this program on 12/19 with the trainer, and then I will continue on with my own plan, but think I will feel ready to do that by December. Working with a personal trainer makes you very accountable.
I am glad you are doing things to reduce stress. I find things that used to not bother me really do now and any situation that feels too hard, I just limit myself to. For example, my client site is stressful but I only work there 3 times a week and really don't socialize with anyone there outside of work. Only an occasional business dinner. Some people need to be taken in small doses too. I hope the things you are changing give you some feelings of peace.
Hoping everyone is having a peaceful and warm day!
-
Was pretty cold here today. Did a little shopping for incidentals and got a jump on getting the stuff I need for Thanksgiving only to find out when I got home that I am out of nutmeg for the pumpkin pie. For the rest of the day I just sat and watched my favorite college team win and read a little bit.
-
Been working on cleaning and laundry, and putting away the last of the patio things for the winter. Mommy, I started digging around for a table cloth and some particular place mats I want to use for Thanksgiving and did find them today!
Heading out to take a short walk and then head to the gym for my cardio bike session and soak in the hot tub.
Hope everyone has had a good day.
-
I decided after breakfast to steam clean the microwave. The plastic bowl sprung a leak and I put my right arm in the hot water.
WOW, bag balm eased the pain!
Then Husband explained the following------------
Do not heat water or other liquids for more than 2 minutes in your microwave (or the time recommended by your particular manufacturer), as the liquid can superheat and under certain conditions can explode out of the cup or container when brought out of the microwave.
Monday getting a flu shot in right arm!
Lily, pleased that you're making changes to reduce stress. I'm sure, not easy!
Mags, good that you were able to drag out, and looking good. So, cousin is a red head.
Mo, I'm lazy, using Libby's Easy Pumpkin Pie Mix *just add eggs and evaporated milk*.
Jazzy, I'm heading for the recliner to watch SyFy.
-
Teka- dang, I am sorry to hear what happened. I hope you are okay tonight and taking it easy.
I hope the flu shot goes easy. I got mine in October.
-

mags, looks lovely! So glad you got out. I am never coloring my hair when it grows back and seeing another silver foxy lady is awesome inspiration. I know it is a wig but your pic is real hair? Looks good, whichever.
Jazzy, good info on exercise and your experience in losing weight. I am unable to lose weight right now despite efforts, and despite the SEs! The amount of Big D and calorie deprivation alone, and that I cut out booze, I should be rail thin. The Taxotere is very bloating though and I will be patient. ugh, one more chemo! I also liked the part about working in stress, with difficult people. You are doin it right.
Teka, sorry you are on the DL. Be careful with your arm.
Blondie, dennys is awesome!
Hermies, be good to yourselves today and hope all are safe and warm out there. I know deep freeze is going on....get your snuggies out
-
Bippy- you are still going through treatment so you don't need to worry about weight loss right now. I am a year and a half plus out from that and it took me until recently to be able to think about doing what I am doing right now. I did go back to exercising within a few months of finishing rads, but never had the energy to do that much. Mostly swimming and yoga, with some walking thrown in.
The doctors like to encourage us to exercise and keep our weight in check to keep us healthy, but everyone has to decide what that looks like for them. Many women don't feel well enough after treatment to do that much. So let your body get through what it needs to right now and the exercise and all the rest will be there for you down the line. First things first my dear!
When I had both the ruptured appendix and BC surgery in 2012, I lost 40 pounds very quickly. Mostly from having chronic D for a month before and after the abdominal surgery. I gained some of that weight back and the docs told me to just focus on eating high protein, and now I am trying to loose that 20 pounds I put back on and go down further. It's all a process and likely to be a long one at that. Taking the AIs make it very hard to loose weight.
Blondie- Denny's for Xmas breakfast sounds good to me!
Teka- let us know how you are doing today too post microwave disaster?
Wishing everyone a good day. Is the polar vortex here yet?
-
Gomma be fun today to do house work with a sore right upper arm from a flu shot.
-
Good Morning Hermies
I didn't have access to my computer yesterday so as usual I'm way behind.
Mags u and u'r cousin look wonderful, glad u got out, it's a good feeling to go.
Lily u seem a tiny bit twards a goal, so that a great sign.
Blondie (((HUGS)))
Jazy as usual u seem like u'r doing good and enegized--U sound great. And I loe it.
Now for Teka, why would u clean u'r microwave, don't do that again, and I hope u'r burn is all right.
It's kind of cold here right now so I'm all covered up. I'm feeling a bit better, but still tired. But I have a few more days on the anti-B's so hopefully they work. BTW my keys are sticking so my tyoing is crap--that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
I hoe everyone has a great Sunday rest if u need it and play if u can.

*Good Morning Hermits*
Just a small red spot on right arm and no pain!
Cami, D is so debilitating.
MO, thanks, I'm so not looking forward to the flu shot.
Bippy, slow and easy, Jazzy gives good advice.

Hermits- decided today what linens to use for my Thanksgiving table. I have not had any sort of gathering or dinner here since before I got sick in 2012. I will be sure to show you a picture of my table once I put it together for the holiday. Having family here will help me to get my entertaining groove back. Well then again, maybe not either.....LOL!
Anyone here watch the Newsroom on HBO with Jeff Daniels? I thought the series ended but it has another season (final?) starting tonight. It's an interesting show and Jeff Daniels is outstanding.
Teka- glad you are doing okay today. Whew!
Mommy- sorry about the sore arm, I hope the pain passes quickly. I get that with tetanus shots.
Cami- sorry about the D. Hope you are feeling better today!
-
Well I got only the kitchen floor swept and scrubbed because hubby said I shouldn't do so much with my arm being so sore. Now the back is hurting along with the arm! Can't win for beans!
Pain from flu shots stink! I had one last year from the cancer center and my arm never had any pain. Got mine at the pharmacy this year because I won't be going to the cancer center until just before Christmas!
-
Hermits- I just finished getting all my biz accounting updated and some taxes paid. Now I am going to shift gears and go take a walk down by the river before this beautiful day ends.
Mommy- it sounds like you did as much as you could with a sore arm. I hope it feels better tomorrow.
