Thanks for the responses, I will make it through. Especially yours, izzysmom it's easy to forget to be kind to myself. I took a four day weekend to get back on track and enjoy the beautiful fall weather.

Things have been a bit hectic since school started, but I'm loving getting back to my "normal" life.  The weather was gorgeous today and we went to a corn maze.  What a great time!

Just wanted to wish everyone continued health and healing, with a special shout-out to sunshine.  I really hope things work out for you, and I think about you sometimes even when I'm not on the boards.

Ladies, we are warriors - I believe this fight has made us stronger.  Let us continue to be brave as we move on!

I have a question...has anyone experienced a feeling of tightness in your lungs since completing your treatments? My last treatment was July 11 and a couple of weeks ago I felt this tightness, especially at night while lying in bed. I'm not particularly worried about it, but I don't see my MO for another four months, so am wondering if I should have it checked out.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

My own personal opinion, I would have it checked. You can't be to careful. At least notify your MO about it. There are just too many unknowns with radiation.

Super tired. worked too many hours Sat Sun Mon =  23 hrs OT. had a deadline to submit prelim budget to our council. Good news is I'm taking all day tomorrow off / sleeping in. Then getting blood draw for annual testing and flu shot. Anyone else getting back on track with regular annual stuff? I need to do the Gyn too!

AnnBr I would check that out. Are you taking Tamoxifen? My doctor told me one of the risks with Tamoxifen is blood clots in legs and lungs and to go in if anything comes up like that.

stephaniege, I called my MO who told me to get to the hospital right away as she mentioned the possibility of blood clots. I had a chest x-ray, ekg, blood draw, and a CAT scan. Everything came back negative. I have an appointment with her tomorrow morning so I am anxious to discuss this in detail. I was on Tamoxifen until May of this year when I had a recurrance so she switched me to Femara. I can't wait until there's a bit more normalcy in my life, if that can ever happen.

Hi Mari, glad you are getting a much needed rest, I have been putting in overtime also! I did the Gyn apt. Not the flu shot though, I had a bad allergic reaction, so I stay away from them. I'm 3 months out of rads now, and my energy is pretty close to normal. I still get some days though that I just want to go to bed! They are getting fewer and fewer!! I have to go for a mammogram next week, and very nervous! Wondering how painful will it be? Why so fast when the normal time after RADS is 6 to 9 months? All the Doctors would tell me is a baseline after surgery, but, I think I found the answer. https://www.inkling.com/read/bassett-breast-imaging-1st/chapter-34/routine-mammography-after My breast came through the RADS quite well.

Ann, sorry you are having tightness in your lungs. Did you have more surgery after your recurrence? Sending good thoughts and prayers your way!

Ameila, glad you are getting back to normalcy! I picture armor with warrior, it is a good image!!

Louanne, I did a post Lx mamm and had no issues. They wanted it before I did rads. It was all clear. I did 33 rads and finished 9/10. I see BS 10/29 and RO on 11/13 for follow up, then should be done for awhile. Glad to say "I'm cancer free and a suvivor!!"

I never had any post Lx mamm. and finished rads 8/8. Saw MO and had a breast exam but he does not want to see me until December and RO not until Februay. Have not made an appt with a gyn yet. Funny, with the tamoxifen, parts that have been dried up for years seem not so much now LOL. As long as I dont get a period after all these years.

I did get an eye exam as a baseline as I have some minor eye issues. I have a minor cataract at side of one eye and as my father had severe cataracts at a very young age I want to keep an eye on it with the tamoxifen.

Still getting a lot of fatigue but exercising regularly and enjoying my 3 day work weeks for now.

    Happy weekend all!

hi my friends!  Well, hell yes to moving on !  I finished chemo June 2nd and rads august 13...full speed ahead back to teaching k august 18 and took a day for a long weekend in the mountains to celebrate life!  Just took another day today as my old friend Daniel Baldwin brought his movie Wisdom To know the Difference, to our theatre here as a benefit for breast cancer research as his mom is also a survivor.  His life is devoted to helping others especially addicts ....a super special guy!  Before BC I would probably not have taken a day off for visitors but I realize now how our moments with special friends...our memory making moments...are far more important!  I don't worry as much and feel at peace....

As for checkups...I see my MO October 21 st...RO November 13...gyno December 4 for yearly exam amd BS December 23 when I will also have a diagnostic mammo....December 17 will be a year from my diagnosis.

I recently went to our urgent care for a throat/ laryngitis bout that happens each October....wasn't sure if I needed to see my MO for that but urgent care was closer.  I am not as comfortable going to someone else but I guess it was ok...anyone else have that question? Do we always need to see our MO in the first few months after treatment is over??  Hope all is well....sunshineinky....hope life is getting back to normal for you too...Rosie

Wow Congrats to all those that have clean mammos!! Cancer free oh Hell yeah!!!

They told me 6 mos after end of rads. Have mine scheduled for Dec 18. Should be in Jan but just didn't want to risk insurance issues.

sunshine, hope you are doing well I think about you all the time.

Wish I could move on, I just seem to keep having one issue after another. Becoming Really old!!

Hi everyone, been away from the boards for a little bit just trying
to live life with so much going on in my family both good and bad. I do
have a question to throw out throw out there. A lot of you are C/O
fatigue and weight gain which I am also going through. I saw my MO just
before I finished my rads and had blood drawn. Today I had my follow up
appt. with my MO and my TSH (thyroid levels) are through the roof and
just so happens fatigue and weight gain are symtoms of that. I know
pre-cancer my TSH was within normal range. She told me it most likely is
a side effect of rads. I showed her how high up my neck I had
discoloration and she really didn't understand why he (the rads doc)
went so high above the clavicle. I am sure they will get together and
talk about that but in the mean time I got put on synthroid, starting
off with a very low dose then increasing it little by little. I go back
Dec. 1 to have blood work then see her again a week after that. You
would not believe but one side effect of this med is MILD HAIR LOSS!!!! I
am praying I don't loose what little hair has come back!!! Just wanted
to know if anyone else has found out they also have high thyroid levels
    post rads?

    Char

My thyroid was ok but pushed me into the Diabetic Range. I found an article online from MD Anderson, MY cancer about watching for increase in diabetic. They never even addressed it. Now I am Pi**ed.

Don't worry your hair will be fine especially since you will start slow. Good Luck!!

Hi Char, I haven't checked the boards for quite sometime. Strange about the coincidence here. I found out today that my thyroid levels are sluggish. I see the Dr. on Tuesday. I'm feeling very tired with brain fog, but, not anything like the fatigue with rads. I just chalked it up to the tamoxifen. I was just reading up on the connection. It seems like tamoxifen is found to increase levels more than decrease, but I've read it can do both. My rads were just centered on the whole breast. The last time my hair was falling out anywhere near how much I'm losing now was after the birth of my son.

This board has really died down! Maybe we should start something new? Hope all of you ladies are doing well. Got an all okay from the surgeon. Next appointment in 6 months!

hey girlfriends from summer rads! I also haven't been on boards....back to work, living life BUT would love to start another thread to keep in touch...we went through so much together...how do you start a board? I just got a book which I saw on someone's post on another board...Dancing In Limbo:: making sense of life after cancer...that's how I feel..in limbo....when I let the past year experience creep into my brain, it's super depressing...maybe others feel that way now after treatment is over...trying to get back to normal (ha!)...I think we were in warrior mode to get it done....year cancerversary coming up for a lot of us...still need support through the aftermath of our storm! Also, to keep in touch and share our bucket list adventures! Dancing in Limbo from summer rads 2014....just not sure how to start the board...peace to all of you brave warriors! Rosie

Greetings, have not been on this thread in a long time, I too finished rads on 7/7/14 and I am defiantly going to get Dancing in Limbo, sometimes I feel like the aftermath that people don't see is some of the hardest to deal with...... Wishing everyone a blessed day.
