Hi, BCO sisters -- I wanted to share this site I just came across about tattoos for mastectomy: http://p-ink.org. It looks like they even have an app so you can see how you'd look with a tattoo. I haven't tried the app, and I apologize if someone else has already posted about this. I've been away from BCO for quite a while. Hugs to everyone.

This is something I would consider!!! I have no tattoos anywhere....but this I would consider and might just embrace. Thank you for sharing.

I haven't been on the discussion borard for some time.  Looking for info on Tats as I get mine next week.  Thanks for sharing the App.  Will check it out.

If you can direct me to the right link to find Tattoo info I'd be grateful too.

OH I SEE.  LOL, not exactly what I had in mind and think I've seen this once before.

    Great for those artistic sisters!

I have been actively exploring qualified tattoo artists in my area to have a beautiful dramatic and fairly sizable tattoo applied across my reconstructed chest in hopes of turning ugly scars into something that makes me smile and feel less damaged.  As I was mentioning this to my Lymphedema therapist she advised me AGAINST this idea because of my truncal and right arm lymphedema.  I never once stopped to think how a tattoo, ink, needles etc could further injure or damage my lymph nodes in my chest and arm.  I am soooo disappointed but she's right. I can't take that risk.  Just wanted to post this in case others may be considering tattoos as art to hide scars.

    AmyQ,

Before I had nipple reconstruction with tattoos (all at once), I wondered if I might have truncal and upper arm LE.  After the reconstruction, I knew I did.  The LE was aggravated by an infection weeks later around my stitches.  The flare was mild, but it took a few months to figure out how to get it under control.

Was it worth it to do the reconstruction?  Absolutely.  My PS did a good job on the tattoo.  Still I'd like to go to a tattoo artist locally who has a great reputation for nipple tats and get a 3D touch up.  I"m holding off because I'm not sure whether I'm willing to risk an LE flare up.

Edited to add:  I had radiation, so it was likely that I'd have some complication after the surgery and tats.
