I am feeling very unsure. I recieved a call from imaging place to come in for additional breast mri images. The. Two days later got a call from dr office that I was fine and the cluster or cyst was benign.  I called imaging place to figure out what was going on and she explained that the first radiologist wasn't sure if it was benign or not so he wanted additional images. Then another radiologist looked at it and said it was fine and benign. The dr said to recheck my prolactin ( it was ev elated last month along with nipple discharge from one breast).  So I don't feel real settled and confident BC one radiologist said I'm fine. what would you do? I kinda want to request a biopsy. My deductible is 2500 and if I wait three months like they are suggesting and they decide I need a biopsy or more images I will have to pay 2500 again and I can't do that.....

    Hi Jstepp,

I can see why you're confused. I'm not a doctor so I can't DX you. But you might consider an US before a biopsy. MRI's aren't the best tools for detecting different BC's. Right now you are doing everything right: asking questions, trying to get an answer as to why these 2 docs saw different things, and even how to handle the insurance. It sounds rightfully that the most important thing for you is getting correct information and so are correct in demanding that.

I'll be thinking of you - let us know how you're doing, okay?

You can always have a second or third opinion regarding your mammogram results. Getting an ultrasound is another possibility. You could request an appointment with a breast surgeon and explain your fears and concerns and that you would like a biopsy.

And as far as I know and have learned, the only true way to diagnose breast cancer is to biopsy it. Sure radiologists may be able to make a reasonable guess as to what they see on mammogram, mri, or ultrasound results, but it needs to be biopsied for a confirmed diagnoses.

I am sorry that you are going through this. It can't be easy. I certainly hope you can get your concerns addressed.

Thank you Bride. I had a mammo and US first. They said it was inconclusive bc of extremely dense breast. My dr also said I have fibercystic breast. I appreciate you help and support! I do think I will see the surgeon to see what he thinks.
