Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?

Ah geez Mommarch....  That doesn't sound very GOOD!  I had a  vaginal prolapse, right after DD#2 was born, but it gradually went back up into place...   That probably happened because during  birth, you can turn yourself inside out, if you try hard enough!  

And I think you two are just working too hard.....  ???  You should take it easier.....  and your DGD too!

OUR Daughter got a sore throat the other day, and is finally taking the day off today....  She has a bad head cold... and feels terrible!   I would love to go see her, but I think we're all better off if we don't....  She is cuddling with her two kitties, and having tea and soup last night.   She runs her Humidifier and little heater at the same time... And lays under her heated throw!

It is 34 degrees out right now~  And for the next week, not above 60 they say...

Yes Carole, Jackie and Mommarch....  We have been working around the yard and house also!  Never THOUGHT about calling our lawn guy.... 

That's because we don't have one!

Hi all- 

 Sorry to say, Robert (my brother) and Anne's Excellent  Adventure has come to an end. What a trip! We did more sightseeing than I have done in 40 years, including a real trip back in time to the Bronx to visit all our schools, neighborhoods, the hospital we were all born at ( now a college dorm) and the church we were all raised in and where our parents, my sister and I were married. At the end of that adventure, which was made even more special because all four of us siblings were together for the first time in years except for weddings and graduations, where you don't really get time to be alone together, my older brother ( the driver) asked if there was anything he missed, and from the back of the car, Robert's daughter piped up that she really would like to see the inside of an Irish Pub. Being a retired Irish NYC firefighter, my brother knew of a great one. Pictures above. The extra woman, in the red jacket,  is my SIL ( the fireman's wife) 

Then Sat, that same brother took me to another great Irish Pub near Bear Mt, for lunch. Again, a beautiful place, but the feature of this one was sports memorabilia. I am not sports oriented at all, but to say I was impressed is a gross understatement. They had a Heisman Trophy, a World Series Trophy, baseballs signed by Nixon, Carter, Ford and Clinton. Hundreds of signed team and individual pictures, something from Babe Ruth, it goes on and on. The son now runs the place, and on the menu, he tells about the sports stuff, but says his parents were so much more than collectors- they opened a shelter in Manhattan for women and children, and were very active in helping children, both Protestant and Catholic, during the wars in Ireland. They brought more than 22,000 children over to America for summer vacations to give the a break from the violence they lived with every day. 

It was an incredible two weeks and it flew by. Now, back to reality. I am in Fl and will probably be here thru Thanksgiving. Then I need to be in Atlanta for some Dr appts on Dec 11 and 12th. That's as far as my plans have gotten. 

I have been keeping up on all the posts, but there is too much for my mind to process individually. Hope everyone is doing well.

I went to a Sci Fi convention this weekend, dressed up as a Steam Punk Birder from afar who was searching for the rare Ghost Owl (Snowy Owl). Had a good time.

I too loved the costume, Puff.  I bet you had a great time too.  What fun !!  Anne, you really did a lot, but  how great to do it in the small family grouping that you did.  What one didn't think of, I'm sure the other did.  You look a lot like your sister, or is it her looking a lot like you. 

Just glad you had a wonderful time and gave life to some pretty good memories once more.

I second all the compliments about Puffin's costume.  And I really enjoyed reading about your trip with your siblings, Anne.  I would love to go back to Manhattan.  Maybe I can talk my dh into a trip.

I must share a funny story about day one of my match play golf tournament today.  I played against a good friend and I won.  She had to give me 8 strokes since her handicap is 8 strokes lower than mine.  But here's the funny story.  Wish I had a picture.  I hit a ball into a large ditch that is kind of a small canal.  I could see the ball embedded in the opposite bank.  It was a new golf ball and I wanted to retrieve it.  I tried hard--loss my balance and fell into the ditch!  My shoes got soaking wet and my shorts.  But I kept playing.  And afterwards I even went to a dr.'s office and picked up a prescription for my mother, despite the seat of my shorts being very dirty. 

This afternoon I went to visit my niece in a mental facility.  They have informed her that she has liver damage from all the drinking and if she continues drinking, she will develop hepatitis.  She is suffering withdrawal from the alcohol and drugs and hasn't been able to eat.  She has hopes of drying out and going straight, but I don't have a lot of hope.  I didn't tell her that, but she has never shown strength of character for any length of time.  Addiction is really tough to deal with.  The addicted person never gets over the desire.  It's a day to day struggle.  I'm glad my biggest temptation is food.  Don't put a package of devil's food cookies within reach!  I'll eat them all and remove temptation.

This is the time of year when at least one sad story of a family pet being shot while off leash just sniffing around on own property.   Culprit is never caught.

Dogs’ harassing of wildlife can be seriously detrimental. Animals may be
injured or killed. Expending large amounts of energies can weaken
animals, particularly deer, and may prevent them from having enough
reserves to survive the winter. New York State law allows every environmental
conservation officer, forest ranger and member of the state police to
kill any dog pursuing or killing deer within the boundaries of the
Adirondack Park.

Maybe snow this weekend. ;o)

Seems to strange to hear you all talk about raking leaves, getting out heaters and preparing for possible snow. The only hint of fall we have here in San Antonio is the grass isn't growing as fast as it was a few weeks ago. Everything in the garden is still growing and blooming. We are in summer clothes and sandals. Our temps are lower than September, our hottest month, but still in the upper 80's-low 90's.and the air conditioners are on 24 hours a day. They may stay on through Thanksgiving. Sure wouldn't be the first time we had Thanksgiving dinner with the fireplace going for ambience but the air conditioner on full blast. Some years it is cold though. We just never know. If a Canadian front comes down this far, we'll cool 20-30 degrees in a matter of hours. We usually have three or four freezes each winter and every few years get an ice storm. We've even had snow and in fact got some last year...enough to have to wipe off the windshields and enough to make a snow ball. Fun for us. But our weather is quite unpredictable. I remember one year we had an ice storm on Feb 1st and it was 90 degrees on Feb. 28th.  The year before we moved here they had 15 inches of snow! Entire city shut down for days I hear.
