Hello all,

I have been going to my lymphedema therapist who is a LANA certified massage therapist every other week for over 2 years now. I just pay this out of pocket and have worked it into my budget. I am having a major flare up right now and I know going more often for a bit would be extremely helpful. What I usually do when I have a flare up is have my oncologist refer me to their PT and then the stretch of frequent visits is covered. I was just wondering if anyone has had success getting visits to someone who isn't a physical therapist/occupational therapist covered.

Thanks for any feedback or insight you might have.

Lisa

It will depend on your insurance.  With mine, massage therapy is covered just like PT or OT as long as I have a doctor's RX for it.  The diagnosis needs to be on it. My insurance limits me to a certain number of visits per calendar year, so you might want to check on that too.   You might have to pay a copay or 20% of the visit or something.  But getting insurance to pay for some or all--- priceless!!!
