Hi,

I am almost one year out from my bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction and I just noticed some pain coming from my left rib. It hurts more with certain movements but is mostly a dull pain. I got nervous and made an appointment with my MO but I am now thinking it could be because of my tissue expanders. My PS mentioned the possibility of an expander pushing against the rib cage. Has anyone else experienced this? I have only done 2 fills and the last one was at least 4 months ago...

I had rib cage pain but it was immediately after a fill.  It hurt for a couple of days then stopped.

It is good that you have a call in to your MO.  You should make sure there isn't signs of infection happening.

    Hope you feel better soon.

I'm not sure if it's rib pain or muscle pain, but I have it below my expanders. I'm pretty sure it's normal. I also get a kind of cramping in my chest and weird nerve pain. My surgeon prescribed neurotin for the nerve pain, which helped. I heard Valium helps with the muscle pain, but I don't want to be taking pain killers all the time.

I am also experiencing rib pain below my tissue expander and I am 4 months post surgery. Has your pain improved?

my pain did improve but now it hurts a little lower. My bone scan did show some fractured ribs so I know it's nothing to worry about.
