Jazzy, food for the brain is delicious.
Mags, I love Scoma's in SF for seafood ... will have to try Alioto's next time.
-
Hermits- OMG, I have to stop eating! I am going to skip the reception tonight and go work out instead. Too much food as it is today, and done a lot of networking already. Plus I have dinner with the conference at 7 p.m. so I want to have some "me time."
The president of Pixar Studios (maker of Toy Story and all the rest) did one of the keynotes today and was very interesting. He talked about some interesting things and also talked a bit about Steve Jobs, who went to Pixar for a period of time, after they kicked him out of Apple. He said when Jobs got fired from Apple, he never saw that coming and it changed him and made him a more empathetic person. That transformed person is who returned to Apple and changed the world with the I-Pod, I-pad, I-phone and all the rest.
Now I found this interesting because I read Jobs biography which came out right after he passed away, and it is a really good read if you like biographies. I learned a bit more about Jobs story and think empathy is important, but never saw it as a transformational for all he did, but interesting to hear from someone who was partnered with him during that time and saw what happened after. I think the tough things in life do transform us, and it made me realize I may be about to do my best work yet.....
Hope everyone had an okay day. I will be sad to leave tomorrow night but making some great strategic connections! Already making plans for some things to do via this community in 2015.

Jazzy, feeling more and more like Dory!
I'm feeling better this evening after a day of discomfort from D caused by Diverticulosis.
-
Renee Zellweger in 2014 and 2004. Yes, that is actually the same person.
-
Yep teka trying 2 figure it out..diverticulitis sucks.
-
Jazzy, as a graphic artist, my professional career from 1988 has been spent on Macintoshes. Steve Jobs was in many ways responsible for much of my success in my field. I started my own business in 1992 and ran it until 2009. All on a Mac. And I still am today. He was a transformational character in more ways than I can count. Too soon gone.
-
Teka and Blondie ... hope you are both feeling better.
-
Good morning ladies- my least favorite part of hotel stays is waking up and not being able to go to my kitchen to make coffee. However, I did locate a nice Starbucks counter here yesterday and will go grab one of those shortly, and then have more later at breakfast. I have to pack up, check out and be at breakfast by 7 a.m., got until 4:30 and then run to catch my shuttle to the airport. Home at midnight. I plan to sleep on the plane!
Teka and Blondie- feel better soon please!
Mags- very interesting your experience with the Apple products. You might enjoy that biography.
I saw those photos of Renee Z. and wondering what is up with all that? She is in her mid 40s now, and her skin does not look good which can be sun damage or something else going on. It does not look like her at all. I have not seen her in any movies in a long time.
Gotta go grab a big java!
-
-
I would now only know Renee by voice!
-

I received a lovely red crocheted shawl from a volunteer at the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center!
I packed the shawl away after the last Avastin Treatment in March 2011.
-
Still have my baby blanket that my maternal grandmother made for me

-
Blondie, glad to here that you are feeling better.
-
hey Hermies! i have been lurking, hope all that were ailin are better now. You will be proud of me, yesterday while shoppin a little sales dude gave me the pitch about if I would like to support BC? By buyin a pink pen? Instead of my old snide monologue pre-diagnosis, about well, do you have the Guidestar report here for me to review and how much exactly does said charity actually GIVE to research, how much does the CEO make, and you should really know this before pimpin out stuff, etc., etc. etc., I did show him my port and say nope, I will be givin up my BREASTS in a month! Sorry, a little bit of bitch still lingers.....i am gonna hate Focktober from now on.
Been a cookin fool, made yummy meatloaf for DH, but it did not appeal to me. Still fun to cook. Makin chix paprikash today, after onco visit. Hey, I made my first Etsy sale too! And my Ebay stuff is going great. So stayin busy and off the couch, with the tv off, it sure feels good to be normal for a change. I have also cleaned out kitchen clutter and reorganized shelves, assembled loads of clothing for ebay sales, and deep cleaned! Bippy is gettin things done!
all have a wonderful day and keep smilin!
-
wonderful Bippy, what was their reaction?
-
Gonna stay inside today. Its rainy, windy and cold!
-
lily, poor little guy was in shock. His mouth dropped and he did not know what to say! I told him too, that I know they make him ask, it is not his fault. I did not want to be abusive to a salesperson, but it DOES bother me, not to even be able to shop as an escape!
-
Hi folks- back from the conference and yesterday was awesome too! Long day and got home and to bed after midnight. I am up and heading into the client site in another 35 min. I am going to be in a culture shock today coming from where I was to this. But the conference motivated me to move forward into a few things I feel more ready to do now.
Onco-yes they had room delivery but because the conference was providing early breakfast and coffee, a delivered pot of coffee seemed like more than I needed so the Starbucks counter in the hotel was just perfect.
Bippy- I think you gave the young man a good education about the fact there are people walking in BC treatment or dealing with the disease otherwise. I am personally tired of getting hit up at every transaction these days at the grocery store, Walgreens, etc. to donate a dollar to something or another.
Cami- glad you are feeling better.
Must run and will check again when I can. Hope everyone has a good day.
-
Bippy how do I get to your site for selling materials?
-
hi sailingwind, I am at bippysbits on etsy and ebay! It is fun, searching for things. I'm out again this weekend enjoying the weather and yard salin'.
Jazzy, it made me realize how rude I had been in the past, prior dx when all the stores do it. So I will never do that to a salesperson again, unless they start it first:)
-
Bippy- I think it is not okay to bother people everywhere they go for donations. I donate to the charities I want to when I want to. I think you let the young man know to back off, and it is a sensitive issue right now for you so don't beat yourself up. None of us like Pinktober or Focktober here that I have heard here. Thank god it's over next week.
Which of course then means Thanksgiving is coming next......
Work is crazy. I went from utopia to hell in less than 24 hours.....
-
Husband and I had routine blood work then joined Niece for lunch. Nice long visit.
Fall weather is turning nasty in the North Country. Week before Halloween!
BBL
-
Jazzy, what happened at work? Hope tomorrow is better.
Teka, cozy picture ... hope you are that cuddled in for a good sleep.
Bippy, glad your business is taking off.
-
jazzy yes, why dystopia instead of utopia now? That stinks!
I had a good onco appointment yesterday. She cannot locate any of my lumps! So she referred me for consult with the plastic surgeon, in early November. It's getting very real now and difficult. I am getting a BMX with reconstruction and I am lost in a wave of sadness and fear. I think once I know the plan I may feel better so I'm trying not to let it get to me. But....my brain is Screaming I can't believe the going to cut off my breasts!!! It seems so barbaric, but so is cancer so......meh.
Anyway, TGIF everyone, hope my Hermettes are doin good. Bippy plans to go out sourcing for her eBay stuff today, weather is stunning and need to get distracted. Later I am whippin up some cranberry bread and chix paprikash!
-
Good morning- still a bit tired but got some good rest last night.
My client site is just always in a state of chaos, a lot of infighting between the business and IT, etc. I am pushing through on some things for them though, and today should be better (no meetings and less time on site).
Bippy- what you are about to go through is huge, so of course you are sad and scared. Hopefully the surgery plan will at least help you know what to expect. Hug sister, take good care of yourself today.
Teka- ut oh, something tells me you got snow?
Must get going to my day. Hoping everyone else here is doing okay.
