%^*cking Neighbors! Warning contains curse words. Lots.
so my dumb f**k neighbor, in his mid-20s and should know better, basically just set off either a mortar or grenade right in front of my house. It was so ungodly loud I really don't know what it was. The same asshole did it three weeks ago in his backyard, we decided not to call the police then and let it lie thinking he would smarten up. I will admit that I was an inconsiderate ass during my teen years, so, live and let live right? Guess what? I smartened up, but my neighbor? Still dumb as shit!
Let me preface before I say anything else by telling you that this whole entire day I have suffered with diarrhea, gastric pain, fatigue and other issues related to my fourth in the series of six chemotherapies. I am dehydrated, exhausted, and frankly, my bum hurts. So it hasn't exactly been a banner day in my household. I am facing a double mastectomy and radiiation soon. We've just been able to open the windows so we've had them open all day and nice weather only to have Peace shattered again by a moron.
Please imagine my shock, horror, and adrenaline rush when this thing shook my house. Nearly came in my window. So me, stunning and bald in PJs and looking like a total freak, bound outside and start screaming at him and his two doofus pals, what the F do you think you're doing? Naturally they ignore me and scurry back to his house. Whereupon I yell even louder, don't you f**ckin walk away from me!!! Yeah this is what has become of me. So proud! but dammit, I had enough. And you know, speaking up for myself does not scare me anymore. I may not be around in a few years, so the hell with being meek and taking it!
Sometime later the police arrive and go over there and tell them to shut off your stupid fire in the backyard, and the police said they were cooperative and promised to be good the rest of the night.
So a Xanax later, calmed down a bit, but I'll tell you this my friends – if I do survive till the age of 55, I'm the hell out of here and in a community where people don't do this kind of crap to each other. I lived in the same house for over 20 years and it's just one asshole after another. I mind my business, am considerate of my neighbors, never cause any problems for others. Why can't everyone have the same consideration?
Thank you for allowing me to rant, it is been very therapeutic. Feel free to Chime in and add your own Tale of Neighbor horror here!

OMG,, I can't imagine!! I've had insane neighbors who let their dogs bark all day or all night,, a neighbor who played her TV so loud that it came through my walls (or ceiling as her TV was upstairs and I could hear it downstairs in my place), but never had someone shoot off a grenade !!! Glad the police came and I sure hope your neighbors behave in the future. Keep calling the cops if they don't. -
Geez, so sorry that you have to deal with this!
-
OMG I would be pi$$ed. I am glad the cops came. Hope it got through to them, but. . . You sure don't need this nonsense going on. Oh and I had to laugh (sorry) about you running out bald and in pj's. I am impressed. I would have thrown on my jeans and wig and then gone out lol.

definitely time to call the cops, feel free to call them any time again in the future!
not sure in your current situation but it calls for a stiff drink if you are allowed~~
-
OMG, I'm so sorry that happened to you on top of the chemo SEs, but I have to say you have a great way of telling a story, and as bad as I feel for you, you made me LOL reading about it. Big (((HUGS))) to you, and so sorry you live next to a moron, but glad neither of his rockets have hit your house or car! Deanna

Bippy
Sorry you are having to deal with this on top of everything else. My neighbour and his wife are insensitive idiots too! Many times he has referred to my BC as "no big deal" Of course when he passed kidney stones, you would of thought the world was comming to an end!!
Idiots!
Hope you can get some peace !
Hugs!!

OMG! What a tool....hope you don't have any other issues with that one!

all is well now....thanks for reading. It was unintentionally hilarious, and my pj top and bottom did not match! A fashion faux paus to boot. I did call the popo and will do it whenever I am displeased with them over there. They are so immature that they have already forgotten, it is just nothing to them. i weep for the future. Meanwhile, counting our blessings cuz we have had much worse! That is the risk with no deed restrictions.... A mistake I will never make again, or will be on enough acres not to need worry. Maybe a bunker. And perhaps a mote, and a turrett or two. And lots of MREs and peanut butter.....hmmmmmmmm, I am seein a new lifestyle in my future!

My neighbors across the street are really F'n idiots too! 4th of July they shot off fireworks off and on until 2:30 in the morning! Not only did they keep me and the hubby awake, my poor dog was a total wreck. The whack jobs also have a spotlight on the back door area that when they put it on shines right into my bedroom! The worst part about these nimrods is that they have about 7 or 8 dogs. One small one like a Jack Russell and the others are Boxers. They have an invisible fence that is supposed to keep these dogs in but they have been known to get passed the fence and chase people as they walk down the street! The neighbors put their dogs out at all hours and all these dogs do when they are out is bark like mad. Wakes me up, I have had to report them for the dogs barking at least twice!
-
Mommyoftwo, just be glad it's only fireworks. MY idiot neighbors fire guns in the air on major holidays...in a densely populated urban neighborhood. Last time I got my roof checked for a leak they found a bullet hole through the decking...

we too live with the neighbor from hell. Last year we were away for a few weeks and when we got home found they had cut down six of our beautiful evergreen trees. My husband went over to discuss what the heck they thought they were doing? The guys excuse was my wife has SAD and needs more sun light. Oh yea they had asked if they could have us take down a few trees but we said no. Makes our acreage private.
Anyways my hubby says to this turkey "you need to grow a pair" and is this what you teach your children that it's all right to steal from people? My husband didn't think his wife got the point so we phoned the police who came out and the guy admitted he did it. We decided not to press charges but let them know we will be making sure they don't do anything like this again and have told him we will build the ugliest fence we can get away with if they don't smarten up!
And their two dogs regularly leave their messes behind. I was going to throw it into their yard but after thinking about it decided that wouldn't be right. Return evil to no one right?

thanks DLB, I am a frustrated comedy writer, and love to make people laugh! You just cannot make this stuff up.
Ah, the dogs. We have had that next door with an unneutered scary aggressive pit bull. Animal Control is a joke. Countless ones roaming free in our yard. The neverending poop at the mailbox that no one cleans up. Bark, bark, bark at all hours. And how dare you complain about their precious babies terrible antics! They will tear you a new one if you dare say a word!
Guns, everywhere here too. Now they shoot them off on holidays too. Unreal.
I am grateful only to have grenade boy now. We have, over the years, had the joys of: ill mannered skinhead teens (a horrid combo), scrappers and haulers that turn the rental house into a junkyard, meth heads that make weird racket for days on end, drunken paramours that scream bloody murder while ACTUALLY trying to bloodily murder each other, irresponsible people that let the house go to foreclosure and squatters moving in, noisy car booty calls at 3am......this is only a partial list.
You may think I live in an awful hood, but it is actually nicer than most that are similar. The town, Sarasota, is very artsy and very wealthy.......we are neither. Houses mostly were built in the 60's, atomic ranches that are eclectic. The location is superior and close to beach and all amenities. Nice big trees, each house is different, pretty park down the street, excellent school district. It is mainly renters that are an issue. They throw their hands in the air, and just don't care! We have a house from 1949 on two lots, rare for an in town home here. Most houses are less than ten feet away from each other, packed in tight. Ha! It still ain't enough space for me!

I live in an urban area and my street is really busy to boot. The thing that bugs me with the neighbors dogs is that if they are out when other people around the area are out walking their dogs on my side of the street, the dogs that are supposed to be penned in by the invisible fence will get out and chase after the people who are walking their dogs. Some of these people are older and I'm worried that some day one of my neighbors are going to get hurt. The small dog the neighbors own almost got hit several times as it goes out in the street when chasing people. I also fear being out with my dog and one of these dogs come over into my yard and attacking my dog when we are outside and me not being able to stop it.
Most of the people in my area (like me) they abide by the law concerning their pets, but not the idiots across the street

I, too, have the neighbours from hell. The brother lives on one side of me, the sister and her daughter lives on the other side of me. All have been in trouble with the law. All are potheads. Sister grew MJ in the backyard one year, over a dozen huge plants; the neighbours on the other side used to refer to it as the "herb garden". During chemo, I used to sit out in the Autumn sun on my front porch and get high on the smoke drifting across from their houses to mine, I kid you not. Brother deals more than just MJ; people coming and going all hours of the day and night. All smoke outdoors and toss the butts at our cars. All use the word "Fuck" as a noun, adjective, verb, adverb, definite- and indefinite article, and dangling participle. Large Portuguese Fila on one side, large pit bull and Bull Mastiff on the other. NOBODY picks up dog poo. Ever. The smell in the summer is nauseating. In front of one house: empty grocery cart; old pool filtering system; various broken toys; a old chair; in front of the other: broken tricycle, piles of garbage, half-a-dozen old planters, a child's pool. In the backyards, weeds over 7' high. An old shed with a blue tarp for a "roof". More piles of garbage: old diapers, broken toys, empty water bottles. If the sister can't find street parking directly in front of her house, she will park in our driveway or across our driveway, and thumb her nose at me. One day, I told her to move her car. She called me a c**t. I chased her with my broom. She never did it again.
Police are there about four times a year because brother tends to beat on his latest lady-friend and the sister likes to utter death threats, or the whole family pisses everybody else in the neighbourhood off so much we call the police. Brother has eight kids by five different women, sister has three kids by three different men, daughter has two kids by two different men. Nobody seems to have married anybody. Kids run wild; the youngest is three and regularly gives me the finger. Thankfully, Canada has gun control so we don't have to deal with that.
I live in a lovely, old circa 1900 home in a neighbourhood with large trees where most people take pride in their homes and work hard to raise respectful children. But these people? Unbelievable. If I hadn't experienced it, I wouldn't have realized that people like this exist. -
I so can relate. Twenty two years ago we bought a very cute 2 and one in a starter neighborhood of tiny homes. This was in Sacramento. We fixed our little dumpy house into a lovely little gem! It had a great back yard and trees and porch-loved it! My hubby and I had a gazillion student loans and it was what we could afford. We were happy, 2 dogs and 2 jobs kept us busy. One one side we had a fiesty old woman neighbor and another older woman on the other side. Ahhh.
Then the old lady on the one side died. Her family sold the home to this young young hispanic boy. We couldn't figure out how he bought this house. He won a settlement from a car accident. He had a white girl friend he screamed at. The music was outrageous. He wore chains, low slung shorts, scary designs shaved in his hair and got a pitbull puppy. Cutest dog. He turned it into a killer. He would fight the dog in his garage and the sounds were horrifying like out of horror flick. I called and reported it to the humane society. He banged on the door vowing "bad blood" and I would regret. I said to march off the porch or I call the cops. He had no visible means of support. BMWs and high end cars would drive up, go in the house stay 15 minutes and leave - all hours. We ended up leaving our home after a pistol whipping and ambulances and cop cars all over. Somebody didn't get their stuff or someone tried to take it, never found out. I told my husband I am not sticking around for more. I was worried he would hurt our dogs when we were gone.
But that's not all! The old woman on the other side had her son move in from prison. He spoke exactly like a Cheech and Chong stand up routine! Long hair greasy and used the f word as everything from a noun to a verb, adj and adverb! He slept all day and played music all night so loud I could not answer the phone in my kitchen. I called the noise control board. He comes over bangs on the door. "Hey Man what the F?" After he left, our neighbors across the street came over. They told us "David" was a 2 strikes and staring down 3rd strike lock up. He had nothing to lose. I said what was he in for? They wouldn't tell me but said "Don't mess with him." So after our run in with the newly released prisoner and the drug selling -fighting pitbull party hearty neighbors on the other side... we called it quits.
We mailed the keys to the bank and foreclosed on the house. Couldn't sell it. Ruined our credit for years. No regrets. There is something to be said for covenants and restrictions and over 55 communities. We bought in a much nicer neighborhood after that.. well rented for years. I read your post and flash backed to our own hellish neighbors. I would move if I were you. If they are doing that now, they will continue. Some "stupid" is forever in the genes. Cut your losses and frustrations.

rose, oh....my......god. Glad you made it out. Sometimes, it is the only answer.
Selena, oh...my...godx2! I simply have no words.
We are 47 and 50 now, but will be outta here so to avoid the issues. I cannot conceive being in my twilight years, or even in a few years after surviving this chit, and subject to this stuff, any and all of which are possible here at any time! Lucky now is all.....

I just read this and first thing I though of was "Kudos to you !!!!!!!!!"
And as for the non-matching pyjama top and bottoms - my niece wears mismatched socks everyday so I believe pyjamas must fall into that category as well

Bippy - what are "atomic ranches" in Sarasota? Never heard that term used except in the west where there is radioactive material underground.
Having more land/more acreage does not insulate one from problems with neighbors (or other nefarious characters) - it can make 'things' worse and harder to keep on top of safely. Can also be harder to prove who caused the damage. Won't go into some of the 'interchanges' I had with those who cut my fences to get at the 'majik shrooms' when they were naturally growing. My friend, Colt FortyFive, was always at my hip to back me up if he needed to - just his obvious presence was all require for support. So many other issues I've had to handle over the years on acreage. Personally, I will never live in a community of old people, nor one that pebbles can tell me that I can't PROUDLY fly my American flag or what, color I paint my house/etc.. Young people help to keep me young.
SelenaWolf - Hate to tell you this but there are guns in Canada. Long guns are legal there but handguns are also there. Some legally for certain people but also illegally. Thankfully, the Parliment Sargent At Arms had his on him yesterday or it could have been a lot worse.
Grandee - I deal with SAD but cutting down neighbors trees is rediculous, especially when they have already said NO. There are ways to handle SAD and do not involve illegally cutting down others trees. I would have pressed charges in a heartbeat.
