Lobular and liver mets?

i recently had a liver ultra sound which was fine BUT all my liver enzymes are elevated by 200 above the top limit for normal.......Onc says nothing to worry about as scan was ok but I had lobular bc and passed mammogram and ultrasound only a few weeks before stage 3 locally advanced diagnosis........so I am not satisfied as lobular is the lurking kind of cancer 

Can anyone advise?

    Well I would ask to have another blood test, sometimes those results are wrong.

    Ask doctor to keep an eye on the enzymes level, I'm sure they are.

    Lily - Once diagnosed with BC, it's hard not to become concerned about medical problems. I would not be satisfied with not having a diagnosis for the increased liver enzymes. If I remember correctly, you chose to use alternatives to Tamoxifen/AI. Is it possible that an herbal medication that you are taking could cause this problem? I agree with Meow that the test should be repeated. If the levels are the same, I would insist on an additional workup. Hepaitits A,B & C and Ebstein-Barr are just a few of the viral infections that can cause elevated liver enzymes. Medications and gall bladder problems can also cause LFTs to go up. Maybe your primary care physician or a GI specialist can give you a second opinion. I hope that you are able to get some answers.

    I too was going to ask what medications/supplements you are taking.  Something like that could easy cause your liver enzymes to rise.

    You should go back for another test after a bit.  This could simply be a blip. 

    I get them (blips) every so often.  No one knew why but the enzyme levels go back down in a couple of days.  Eventually they threw up their hands, called it "Gilbert's Disease" and let it go.

    It's hard not to worry I realize, but often the easiest explanation is the correct one.

    I cannot take tamoxifen due to vascular problem, took Femara and was miserable as sin so stopped but been taking Exemestane for a year. Not  changed my natural meds / supplements and prior blood tests were fine. I was taking Ciproflaxin until twenty days before blood test.......dont know if that made a difference. It worries me that lobular is not treated as a lurking cancer that gets under the radar of scans and I have had discomfort in liver area too .........

    I take curcumin, artemisinin, D3, salvestrol platinum, indole 3 carbinol

    Lily, I know the thing about ILC tending to form differently than IDC, thus not being detected on mammo or u/s, pertains to primary tumors, but I've never heard it in the context of liver mets.  IF you had something going on in your liver, I think it would show up on a scan, even if the cells are ILC.

    On the other hand, an elevated liver enzymes does not necessarily mean liver mets.  It could be due to a number of things, including bone mets -- which I certainly hope isn't the case, but which I thought was worth pointing out.

    Have you had a CA27-29 to see if that's elevated?  I realize it's not always 100% accurate, but if it's significantly elevated, then that would be another reason for your onc to look further.

    But as others have said, elevated liver enzymes can be due to things other than mets.     Deanna

    Thank you Deanna - its a shock as liver always been rock solid before.........I am going to insist on a blood test in a few weeks time and not wait until my next follow up

    Lily - my liver enzymes went up last Dec due to influenza A...have u had an infection recently?

    no i was fine, had a fat transfer done four weeks before blood test but no complications
