Sleep

I am having a terrible time with being able to sleep.  Some nights I'm up the entire night.  If you had this problem, what did you do to help???

Hi MamaDarling, I just sent you a PM asking about your ability to sleep. I used either Aleve PM or generic Ambien. Occasionally I still need those meds. I had sleep issues before dx.

Think about asking your personal Dr. For a script for Ambien, for short time use. You really only need a half or a third of one of those. Some women swear by  Meletonin.(sp) That is over the counter.

1/2 an ambien from dx until surgery-- worked wonders-- -you need your rest-it makes all the difference.

I was exhausted while on Taxol - could not sleep at all.  My Chemo Dr gave me a script for 'something' (don't remember the one right, now) for sleep.  It was NASTY - horrible nightmares which I never have nightmare normally or they are silly like 'vegetable people' chasing me.  I called my PA and she sent me the lowest doseage of Ambien.  I took one when should be going to sleep and if I woke up in the middle of the night I could take a second one as were so low dose.  Very seldom took a second one during that time.

Sleep seems to be a big issue for everyone going through this.  I am now almost 6 weeks from my NSBMX and will still be up off and on all night long.  The biggest issue for me is sleeping on my back is just not something that is comfortable to me.  Side sleeping which is my normal way to sleep is impossible with the TE's.  So every night I wake up after a few hours of sleep needing and wanting to change positions but can't.  Even on the few nights right after my surgery that I took one of my pain meds, I still couldn't sleep all night long.

    Good luck.
