I just got back from my 3 month follow up with my oncologist. They checked my blood count and tumor markers. Tumor markers help in case there is possible cancer in the body but they aren't always reliable. My tumor marker was in normal range but At the higher end of it. For example my number was 41.2 and the end of the normal range is 42.6. They look for spikes in this blood test. Over the past year my numbers have went from 31 to 36 then down to 32 and now up to 41 he said in those cases he does not worry. But he still going to have me get it rechecked in six weeks just to make sure. However I'm still freaked out. Has anyone else had elevated tumor markers?  My dr doesn't seem concerned but I am a mess!!

    Dear Immclure,

I have tumor markers like yours, bouncing around in the normal range.  When I did have a recurrence in my inframammary lymph nodes, the markers didn't do a thing. Perhaps, for you and I, our tumor markers are not predictive of anything.  My onc doesn't even measure mine anymore because they don't mean a thing.

    Hi there,

Sorry we are all on this board.  I am usually on another board but thought I would explore the ones for TNBC.  When I checked them in the past they were a bit depressing so I stayed on the one I found with Christian women.  I know my MO doesn't use tumor markers with me either as they don't work.  Not sure why that is but it happens.

Alexgram interesting you have TNBC the second time around from reading your profile.  Did you have mets on your ovaries this time?  It would be good to share our stories more if you want to get more of this board moving along.

    Lucy
