Hi There
I had blurred vision, extremely dry eyes but would wake up with my eyes crusted shut while I was having taxotere. It did go away about six weeks after I finished the taxotere. My opthamologist said the chemo sometimes affects the liquid layer that coats the eye. He said sometimes also because our resistance is so low we can get an eye infection but mine wasn't but he said it was good that I had checked with him. He gave me a lubricant eye drop ( Refresh Ultra) and suggested cool cloth on my eyes periodically and not to rub my eyes. He said just to be patient and if I was still worried or it didn't let up to come back and see him.
Hope this helps.

Hi: I just had 9/12 Taxols. Asked my onc last tx about vision changes, and he said that chemo can affect vision and to wait til after chemo to get a new prescription (I wear glasses for distance and for near vision). He also said if it gets really blurry to see an eye dr. My near vision problems began in my early 40s (now 53), and gets worse with each year. I think that the chemo has added to that. Good luck! You're 1/2 done!!!

I haven't checked this board in a while, but did want to thank those that replied - my vision issues did subside after chemo was over - I did start experiencing peripheral neuropathy after 11/12 tx in my feet - this too is now a lot better - now doing radiation - so far so good - today was 8/30.
Thx~

bumping for those of us with blurred vision while on taxol

I actually started noticing it after the 4th round of A/C. I am an avid reader and that is what keeps me going on those days when I just don't feel like doing much. If Taxol makes it worse, I am in a world of trouble.... as there goes my favorite pasttime. Guess I will be asking the oncologist about this on Tuesday. I begin my Taxol on Wednesday. Good luck to all!

belle- same here- it's gotten worse but is tolerable. Supposedly gets better post treatment- I've got one left! Just needed to hear its a side effect to get the paranoia out of my head! Good luck to you!

I have noticed my vision getting muchorw blurry (both near and far) since AC and am now done with 3 of 11 taxol treatments. Hady eyes checked and the doc didn't even changed prescription. I already had glasses that I never wore because it didn't seem bad enough - but I have to wear them now! Hoping they will improve when this is all done, but since I'm 46, who knows!
