Well, unfortunately I am now a cancer patient:(
Hi. I was diagnosed on September 18, 2014. I have Stage I Invasive Mammary Carcinoma-mixed Ductal/Lobular. Grade 1-2, Histology 1-2, EP+, PP+, HER2 Neu - no lymph node involvement. (Per MRI) Tumor size is 10mm.
I am waiting on my BRCA testing to determine what type of surgery. Hoping just lumpectomy & radiation. I am 41. All of this was just from my yearly mammo:( I feel no lumps or pain. It is scary but I hope to get support from this site.
Thanks:)
Missy

Misc73, Welcome to BCO. I'm so sorry for the reason you have to be here. You will find a great amount of support on these boards, and meet some wonderful women. You are not alone. It's all very overwhelming in the beginning, but as you get a treatment plan in place, it will get better. Sending good thoughts and gentle hugs to you!!

Sorry you are here. On one of my trips to the doctor, my mother and friend had taken up a conversation with two ladies in the lobby and shared why there where there. One of the ladies, mean well, jumped up when I came out and hugged me, pulled open her shirt to reveal her pink ribbon tee shirt, and said, "Oh honey, you are now in the club of some of the most wonderful women in the world". I just stood and looked at her with I'm sure a dumbfounded look on my face and said "but I didn't want to be in your club". So, I surely know you don't want to be on these boards, as none of us do. I am relatively new too, mastectomy 7/14/14 and now waiting for tissue expanders to be exchanged for perm implant. Super scary time.

Sorry you're here, but if you have to have cancer, this site is the place to be. I think the worse time is the initial rollercoasting of diagnosis, and then digesting all the information. Then it gets better, I promise. I'm at 3 years since my second diagnosis and am NED, and 15 years from my first diagnosis. Both my diagnoses were worse than yours. You will likely live a long life and die of something else.
Remember to breathe.

Hi Misc73, and welcome to Breastcancer.org. Hopefully you'll get here the support you're seeking, plus knowledge and helpful advise from all these wonderful ladies
While you wait for your test results we recommend you to take a look at the Breast Cancer 101 section from our main site, where you'll learn on next steps, your diagnosis, treatment options, etc. All very helpful information that will help you make the best decisions.
We hope this helps,
The Mods

Sorry about your diagnosis Missy. Sounds like you caught things early which is good. Hang in there.....the beginning is the hardest part because there is so much unknown. Hugs!! -
Misc..after the initial shock it will get easier...we are all here to support each other where you here to support each other..I have my dx but two months later I'm still waiting for my treatment plan. I had a full panel hereditary test and unfortunately that takes 3weeks to come back so I have been just been waiting but it does get easier since I've been able to come here and hear others stories..

Saying the words "I have cancer" is one of the strangest feelings I ever experienced. And, let me tell you, I have had some experiences. Now, 9.5 years later, I still have respect for the word--but I don't fear it. It's just another word. My only advice is to realize that your "numbers" look very good (if that term can be used for any cancer). This is a well researched and extremely treatable disease. That's not to belittle your situation or your feelings (I mean, we all hate it when others just say "Oh well, you'll be fine, my aunt was," when they really have no idea what they're talking about - that kind of comment doesn't acknowledge the serious nature of the beast). So come here any time you want; say anything you want. There are a lot of supportive and knowledgeable women on here to lend a shoulder and an ear. Best to ya as you fight the good fight.

You will find very knowledgeable people on this site. I too wanted to have lumpectomy and radiation instead of mastectomy but I was convinced to have the mast. No radiation just hormone treatment (can't wait to get off of it), my reconstruction DIEP was a big success if I had know what the results would be I would have been a lot happier.
So many recent advances in treatments and reconstruction even for lumpectomies. Three years and counting.
