Robin, I think you can do Goolge+ hangouts with 6, maybe 8 people. I have only done 3 at a time there so far but worked well.

Kim, good thing the skin is pretty numb since that would be a big area to tattoo. The one stinking little dot on my breast bone  area hurt like hell. of course I hate needles.

Wouldn't it be fun to meet up some where!

Sorry I haven't posted lately, but I'm still checking in every day. I'm heading to the operating room tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. for my implant exchange. I'm a little scared since my mastectomy was supposed to be three and a half hours and ended up lasting almost eleven hours because of bleeding. Hoping this surgery will be uneventful.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Good Luck SouthernBling! will be thinking of you and pretty sure we will all be in your pocket! Keep us posted on how it goes!

Question....who has gotten their ports out? I'm having major anxiety about it.  Did you take a valium? did they do it right in the office? I get mine out on the 13th.  Did it hurt? Ugh.

Johns mom and her husband have been here all week..............omg i need a drink.

    Good night to all!

Catching up and checking in:). Without going into it- really down week.  Praying this one is filled with happiness and hope:). Heading back to Texas tomorrow.  It is time for the scans and 3 month check.  Can you say scanxiety?!?  So desperate to hear NED.

Missy- port out for me.  They did it right there in office.

Robin & Lisa- so glad you get to meet up!!

I have been avoiding this board since I was trying to do anything but think of this next week.  I am going to have to learn a better way to cope than avoiding my friends.  Sorry for the absence.  Cancer and the mind games are the worse  for me.  Hugs to all!!

missy- I did the deportation in the docs office.  It was a simple procedure, about 15 minutes, start to finish. The only 'discomfort' was the pinch of the lidocaine injection!   Otherwise didn't feel a thing! Really, it's nothing to fret over, I promise!

    beautiful pictures Lisa!!

Jbokland - love the action shots. You have such a great spirit

Jodi- missed you.  But totally get why. My hubby and I were just talking about how we were so tired of talking about cancer... Maybe one day....

Missy - still have my port :0(.  Was supposed to get it out on sept. 26 during my phase II recon. But that was canceled due to my pnuemonitis. Apparently anesthesia doesn't like to mess with you if you are having lung issues and are on high dose corticosteroids. :0(

I was scheduled in December for nipple reconstruction (and so far still have a surgery date but it won't be fur nipples and will only happen if this other mess is resolved). I plan on getting some made. But I think you still have the aeriola tattooed on.

Southern Bling - I got your email!! Thank you. I will get back to you soon.   Good luck tomorrow. Be praying fur you!! Keep us posted.

    Holli :0)

Jodi - did you have a radiation tech named Joel? (Pronounced Joe El) if so, he is my daughter's roommate in Houston. He is a rad tech at MD Anderson.

Southern Bling - prayers and positive thoughts.

Robin and Lisa, you two rock the short hair look.  Happy you could meet up.

Jody, know the feeling you are having, I am fretting already about Nov. All that is "scheduled" is mammos and US but I will be  pressing for a PET scan. I had a CXR done for my cough and while the lungs were clear there was a tiny amount of fluid at the bottom corner of the left lung that should not be there.  We all are hoping Your scans will come back good.

Holley have you been able to taper your prednisone now.  Sorry for the surgery delays.

Jodi, hoping your scans go well. Hang in there! What scans are you getting done?

Lisa, thanks for posting the pics. Looks like fun!

Holli, how are your lungs doing?

    Welcome Molly!

    Have a great week, ladies!

Good morning ladies.  Robin and Lisa, what a great picture:)  Very happy you 2 could get together.  Missy, I got my port out asap.  I think it was 3 weeks after my last chemo.  Don't be nervous.  That was my favorite procedure.  (I loathed that thing.  It was up very high and stuck out of my jugular :/ )  I was put out for it, but many people just have it done in their doctor's office.  Okay, so today is the 1 year anniversary of getting the phone call telling me that I had cancer AGAIN.  I can't believe it's been a year.  I just got sick to my stomach writing that. Thank you ALL for your support.  Oh, I went to Salem MA this past week end with my 2 girls and my best friend.  I have always wanted to go.  I am all about doing things now instead of just talking about doing them.  It was awesome.  From October 1-31 they have all kinds of vendors and a street fair with everybody dressing up.  The Salem witch trials have always fascinated me.  I can't believe what they did to those poor people.  Anyway, I hope you all have a great day.  Good luck Jodi.  try not to stress.  You are all in my prayers.  Kathy.

SB, praying that your surgery is smooth sailing today.

Kimie, let us know how after you see the dr!  I still have lots of aches & pains.  Hard to know how much we should be worrying.

Lisa & Robin, love the picture.  You both look great!

Jodi, good luck with the scans.

So thankful that I read these boards before getting my port placed.  Someone on another board recommended wearing your bra into the OR, then having the strap traced so that the port is located in a position where it would be least noticeable.  The nurses in the hospital were like you need to take the bra off!  I told them what I was doing and they acted like I was nuts.  The surgeon (not my breast surgeon - a different one who apparently mainly places ports) was like sure!  I will try to place it out of the way.  It was hard getting it in (I was in twilight state) but apart from the first couple of weeks, it has not bothered me.  It hasn't been noticeable under clothes or even bathing suit.  Good thing because I have 3 more months of Herceptin so won't be getting it out till end December.  I can imagine if it is placed high up it would be driving me crazy.

kimmie - thinking of you. Keep us posted. We are in your pocket.

Mikesgirl- how cool on your trip!! My daughter who is "4th" grade (we homeschool) is in the writing program at our co-op and she just turned in a paper (albeit just two paragraphs) about the trials. We looked for a children's book at our local library (very small) over the history but couldn't find one.

THANK YOU - everyone who asks about my lungs. It is so nice to be thought of. I've tapered down to 40mg of prednisone. This is now week 7 (first 6 was 60mg)!!! When we lowered the dose it didn't get any worse. So that's a good thing. I'm hating the steroid side effects. I have swelling over my neck and it's causing pain. I know it's all temporary but it still sucks.  I see my RO agsin in one week. Trying to get on to see a pulmonologist but having insurance issues...surprise, surprise...

Ladies, thanks for the positive thoughts and prayers. They must have worked because my surgery only lasted an hour. Surgery wasn't bad at all. It was nice to hear, "Congratulations on your final surgery."

This may be too personal, but did any of you decide to go to therapy? I would love to find a psychiatrist who specializes in helping patients like me and one that has gone through cancer. I am by nature a little anxious. I wake up and the first thing I think about is the cancer. Not only that I HAD it, but it could come back. I've never seen a therapist, but between my breast cancer and losing my mother-in-law recently, I think it might do me some good. I have a friend whose husband is a psychiatrist, but he only treats Veterans so he is trying to find one for me. I have another friend whose brother is a psychiatrist for the state so I don't know who he treats. I may call my oncologist and see if he will refer me to someone.

Hope everyone continues to do well! I would love to meet you AWESOME ladies someday!

Had my mammo, bone density scan and colonoscopy, this week. Radiologist says I definitely need to alternate between MRI and mammo every 6 months. Even with 3D mammo, picture is not great due to breast density. She said I wouldn't be due back for 6 months though, so am thinking "Lefty" is all clear. Colonoscopy was all clear, do not need a repeat performance for 10 years. PCP wants to meet with me on Monday to go over my bone density results. I have osteoporosis, do not know to what extent. He feels it is due to the tamoxifen, which can cause it in pre-menopausal women.

Kimie and Jodi - what a relief your results must be!

Hi ladies - I haven't posted much lately, but have been reading and praying for you all.

Jodi & Kimmie - Glad to hear that your scans and X-rays are clear.

SouthernBling -  I am glad your surgery went well and am hoping that you have a speedy recovery.

Holli - Radiation.....don't get me started.   Hoping your insurance approves you to see a specialist ASAP.

Robin - Thanks for the 3D info, just had one last month.  I will make sure next year, it's MRI.  I see my breast surgeon at the end of this month... No telling if she will put me on a 6 mo. watch.  I see the GI doc on Fri..... See you Saturday.

Eric and I are flying into Atlanta next Weds for a Nascar race at Talledega on Sat & Sun.  We have a couple of days free, so we thought that we would drive up through the Smoky Mountains, any recommendations?   Looking forward to seeing Patti too.... Any of you ladies coming out to Northern California, let me know, I live pretty close to SF, Napa & Sacramento.

    Kim

Hey ladies.  I am on a high right now.  I just met Kimie for the first time.  She was headed to Boston and took a detour off the interstate to give me a hug :-) It was a very emotional and touching experience .  Kimie you give great hugs!  I'm looking forward to hanging out with you sometime soon.  I hope you all have a great day!  Kathy.
