ladies,

3 months after I ended radiation I m still using soft cotton bra. My regular bra gives me pain as I m still swollen n achy.

I think it is time to go to Nordstrom for bra fitting .

Anybody gone thru the process? How was the experience ? Dealing with insurance?

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Fightbc.

Did it! It went really really smooth. The appointment and bras are covered by insurance 100%. So, I am happy!

Tell me more about this? Which insurance do you have? They paid for regular bras at Nordstrom? I'm intrigued :)

    Thanks! Linda

    FightBC -

    Make
sure you have an appointment with a Nordstrom's Mastectomy Bra Fitter…. This is a LONG process!

    My
experience with Nordstrom was a dream. I met with the Mastectomy Bra Fitting
Supervisor. She looked about 12 years old, but had years and years of
experience in fitting breast cancer patients.

    She
knew her stuff, too… and she made some very nice comments about my
    reconstruction!

    The
first thing she did was to take me back to a dressing room the size of one of
my bedrooms. Then she gave me a gorgeous, silky, soft warm robe to wear in
between trying on bras. She carefully measured me, asked a lot of questions
about what I was looking for, then had me take a seat in a really comfy chair
with lots of magazines to look at.

    Soon
she was back with an armload of bras. It can be tricky to maneuver into some of
them and get them fastened, and she was right there with tips and hooking me up
    in the back.

    We
separated the bras into three areas (they have LOTS of racks in those rooms)
    Yes, No, and Maybe.

    Then
off she went to get MORE bras. And MORE bras. And MORE bras.

    It
felt like I tried on 100 bras that day, and I was a bit sore afterwards. But I
found some real beauties that made me feel like a million bucks.

    The
only issue I had with her was that she did not inform me that my insurance
could possibly pay for any of the bras. That might have spurred me on to spend
more money. The best fitting bras are not always cheap. So ASK about
    insurance!!!!

    Here is a
description of Nordstrom’s Mastectomy Bra Fitting program:

    And
    thanks to dear AZ….

    Here is a list
of insurance companies that Nordstrom currently works with (who pay for
    mastectomy bras!)

    Here is the
insurance billing information that gives a code and description of a mastectomy
    bra for breast reconstruction patients:

    HCPCS
Procedure and Supply Codes – L8000

    HCPS
    Chapter/Section Guidelines and Notes

    L8000
    – Breast Prosthesis, Mastectomy Bra, without integrated breast prosthesis form,
    any type, any size

    (Code
    changed 2013-01-01)

    Have
    fun pampering yourself!!!!

p.s. You may want to explain the discomfort you are in right now, and see if it's the right time to be fitted. I didn't have rads, so I had no experience with that.

    Thank you  Blessings2011

I had good experience with nordstrom. Luckily I talked abt insurance so, I could get 3 bras and 2 camisoles all covered in my insurance.

I am still sore, and swollen. And I like bras little on loose side, so to be extra comfortable. So, I use hook extenders in the back. If my swelling goes away, ia m sure they will fit properly without using extensions.
