The Hermit Club

Good morning all.  Although I have not been posting the last couple of days, I have been thinking of you all.  I am fine.  It seems like sleep is a problem for several.  I hope those of you with sleep issues will find ways to get the rest you need.  When I am sleep deprived, my mood and energy seem semi-depressed.  

As always, I enjoy the pictures and gather inspiration from the activities that are described.  Thank you all.

Mags, the breathing problem is a new issue, isn't it?  Are you going to the doc for it?  Sorry if I am being too nosy.  I am thinking of you.

Sally, thanks for your concern. I'm thinking it's a SE of the chemo at this point. I have a lot to do this week. DH has arranged the finances to allow for a regular cleaning person, and a friend from church recommended someone, we met with her last week and took her around, her estimate was more than reasonable. We know she's good because she used to clean for a friend whose house we spent time at every week, also, she's been doing it for 32 years. 

What started it was, we're having houseguests this weekend and the house is not clean. I do a little here and there, cousin sweeps and mops the kitchen, DH runs the vacuum, but the dusting and stuff has been put on hold. So finally we will be clean and it can be kept up. Our friends that are coming are the ones we went to visit right after my BMX, in June. It was the first time we'd met face to face, and we got on famously. She and I have played an online game together (with a bunch of other folks who came in June) for many years. My grandsons started me playing it in 2006 as a way to spend time together even though we were half a continent apart. I met a lot of adults who play together (the oldest is 72!) and even though my GSs don't play any more, I enjoy the company and the game play is usually sufficient to distract me from pain. And they've all been so supportive during the cancer/chemo, in fact, in the game we are now bald. Anyway, we have lots of fun together and I'm so looking forward to seeing them, and DH really hit it off with both of them as well so we will have a great weekend. DH is going to grill a rib roast so that will be tasty. This is the most excited I've been in months.

Sally, just checked my info packets on the chemo drugs, taxotere has a possible SE of shortness of breath, and I know they all have SE of fatigue. Add that to my chronic fatigue and, well, I'm just tired.

through my ancestry search I have found two of people that were in the Civil War. Both fought for the Union. One was on my dad's side and the other was on my mom's side.

my dad was a navy man, love his old historical pics,from WW2. A japanese kamikazi rammed their boat and he survived.

Been working on my shopping list for surgery, so today I found a thin, soft hat to sleep in, and slippers for post surgery.  Got a car wash and that is the extent of my productivity.  Made dinner and relaxing now. Been sleeping lots, good for the immune system. Going to visit my old office this week, I miss it at times, a reminder of things I have lost. But I try  and think that better things are ahead.

Hermits- weird morning today. Went to the gym early for my 7 a.m. work out and all went fine, drove home to change and go to work. While I was putting stuff in the car, I saw a police car down the street parking and two officers were coming up the street and looking at me. Something not good in the hood. They wanted to know about my older neighbor who lives next door and asking about her, if anyone lived there, etc. I know her well and was worried something happened (like she went missing) and asked if she was okay? 

He said there was a break in nearby and some items that had Lojack sending out a signal from her house and thought "oh crap!" I gave them her name, phone number and then they rang the doorbell. They went in and searched her house, also the back yard and wanted to search my back yard too (yikes!) 

What they found was a cel phone behind one of my dumpster on the side of the house (kind of creepy that people are lurking around dumping stolen property on my property in the middle of the night). That was where the signal was coming from. They brought someone to do prints, but also said whoever did this had ordered a bunch of stuff from Amazon to send to my neighbors address. They figured they were hoping for a quick overnight turn around and would snag it before anyone figured it out.

I had to go to my first day at the client site, but called my client to tell her what was going down in the hood, and that I might be a few minutes late. My poor neighbor was so visibly shaken (I felt un-nerved myself), but the cops were nice and we just talked to them about watching for anything else as we were able. Nothing got delivered today and the phone was gone when I came home (returned to the owner). So my guess is the thieves realized they had been busted and probably went on their way. 

My first day at work went fine, everything was easy compared to the way things started!

Blondie- you are doing the best you can. You don't worry about being anything except your cool self! We love having you here.

Blondie, I was going to ask you if your breathing trouble was chemo related. And it's permanent? OMG. I told DH tonight I'm calling the MO tomorrow about this, I've been sitting in the recliner for 4 hours and still can't catch my breath. I've had congestion from allergies before (the cottonwood tree in our front yard is brutal in May) but Mucinex takes care of that pretty well and it's not touching this at all. And it hurts like a son of a gun. Complicating matters, I have a condition called Costochondritis, which is inflammation of the connective tissue of the ribs, which, when it flares up, feels like my ribs are being crushed. It's something that can be aggravated by chest surgery (such as a BMX). And I've had a couple of flare ups since surgery, but this feels different.

I take it since you have the breathing problems all the time there's nothing they can do to treat it? This is the total pits, and I can honestly say I feel your pain. Major hugs, honey.

Well they said they didnt know if it was chemo related or cause i have cancer in my lungs, so4 me i would say it is cause of cancer  in the lungs. Yea steroids  is what they gave me itt help. Also mo said the ativian would ghelp with the breathing

So sorry  that u r having the problems mayb they will do a chest  xray to see if there is fluid in there

Jazzy, wow ... what an exciting day you had yesterday.  I hope the police catch the bad guys.

Hermits- up early and out the door for a early morning meeting, but with a bit of time to hopefully catch some balloons in flight next to the park where I am working.

Mags- I am concerned about your shortness of breath. I have had that before with my asthma, but we know our bodies the best and it sounds like you know something feels different and not right. Important to go get checked out, perhaps an X-ray to make sure nothing else is going on as Blondie says. Let us know what you find out!
