bone or muscle?

Options

So ... I was diagnosed in May 2012 - triple positive and went through all the horrid treatments. Also had my ovaries out in June this year and now waiting for reconstruction ...

I thought I was doing fine without a network but flipping heck - today is a hard day for me and I need just one or two who understands hence the reason for looking you and the network up on FB.

in the last week I've had a pain on the bone/rib separating the boobs ... but last night and this morning I've experienced pain going all the way under my "healthy" (who knows really!) boob.

I'm scared beyond scared ... thought I was doing good but now very very worried - however I just don't understand the difference between a muscle pain or bone pain - I cannot tell ... when I push on the bone/rib it hurts but is that an indications that it is "just" the muscle lying over top of the bone/rib or would metastasised cancer of the bone also hurt when you push on it?

Not sure if any of you even understand what I mean - I'm just so scared and sad and fed up and feeling incredibly lonely in the world of breast cancer experienced women ...

Hi missymoto, and welcome to Breastcancer.org.

You're not alone. Many wonderful ladies here have had similar fears and experiences than yours, and will be delighted to share it with you soon. Until then, you can read some pages in the main BC.org section called Recurrent and Metastatic Breast Cancer that will help you manage your fears.

    We hope this helps!

I've been wondering about something similar.   I have pain that seems to be just below/over my lowest rib but just in one spot..  It hurts more to press in that area.  I wonder too if it means anything.

I hope you have found some relief and a way to keep your mind occupied with more enjoyable thoughts.  I believe you said this had been going on for about a week?  Give it another week or so and if it not getting better then talk to your on or pcp?  I'm going to go with that I slept on it wrong for now.

Welcome.  You've come to the right place.  But some posts get gobbled up before they get much response. Sometimes it helps to try posting to a different topic. Of course we're not doctors and can't know about your pain, or help diagnose it, but we can tell you how it is/was for each of us individually.  So I'm just bumping your post to keep it up on the top.

I am 9.5 years post-diagnosis, and currently watching a few tiny lung nodules for growth.  I don't expect any bad news from them, but it's also nice to know that the radiologist read the entire CT for anything that jumps out in the abdominal area (lymph nodes, other organs, etc.).   The other day I had a "bruised" feeling when applying only very light touch on my sternum ("bone between the breasts").  I have had bone pain a lot during treatment, and I knew it just ached all by itself, whereas this tender area did not.  I'm no doc, but I assumed it was not bone.  A few days later and it's fine.

As for you - are you still seeing a doc?  Oncologist, surely.  When is your next appt? Can you mention it to them if the pain lasts until your next appointment?  Have you had any scans?
