Enlarged cortex of lymph node shown in MRI

Hi, this is my first post. So far I've been diagnosed with DCIS with microinvasion but now the MRI showed an abnormal lymph node with an enlarged cortex. I have a double mastectomy scheduled for Thursday but on Monday I will have an ultrasound/biopsy to examine the nodes further. The entire plan would change and I'd probably be looking at chemo first.

I'd love to hear from anyone with this enlarged lymph node to hear what outcomes they had after checking it.

Thanks!

Jen

    Hi Jen,

Sorry you found yourself here but your very welcome. Sometimes it can take a while for others to respond but we hope you find the support and answers you are looking for here.

Can we also suggest you take a look at the DCIS forum to find others to connect with.

There is also a piece on the main site about Lymph node involvement that you may find helpful.

    Warmly,

So sorry you have to be here. I was 36 at the diagnosis and had an enlarged palpable lymph node, they did not biopsy mine, which was good since after surgery it came back with only 2 micromets. I hope your node is clear and you can go ahead with your surgery.

I had palpable nodes that were huge even to touch. I had a fine needle aspiration biopsy that came back with evidence of cancer. I did  neo-adjuvant chemo because I'm HER2+. At the lumpectomy / axillary node dissection they found no evidence of cancer - NONE! There were 9 nodes removed and 3 of them showed evidence of having been cancerous but no more. Hope it all goes well for you! Ask if you have more questions.
