Does anyone have doctors they really love in the greater Raleigh area in North Carolina?

I'm BRCA1 positive and looking into getting a bilateral mastectomy some time early next year, and I also want to get into the habit of getting ovarian cancer screenings, colon cancer screenings (because of another genetic predisposition) and skin cancer screenings on a regular schedule.

I generally trust the medical centers in the area to do a good job, but in many cases it's all about the individual doctors.  Bedside manner and feeling like I can talk openly with my doctors is important to me.  Of course, results are important too!

If there's a place where I can go in for an afternoon or a full day and get a bunch of visits taken care of at once, that would be great, but that's not a "must have".

Hi sabihah. I know this thread is from last month. Sorry. If you haven't found anyone yet though in the Raleigh area I can recommend a great breast surgeon and gastroenterologist if you still need some names. Nancy Crowley did my mastectomy and she's very kind and knowledgeable. Also Dr. Herschelman is a nice gastroenterologist. If you want their numbers you can PM me.

Thank you!  I will send you a PM.

I'd welcome other recommendations as well.  Ugh, a lot of screening doctor's appointments are in my future.

I live on the Outer Banks. I went to UNC Chapel Hill Memorial hospital, Durham. My first visit, I sat in one room while the breast surgeon, oncologist and plastic surgeon saw me and we came up with a plan. They were wonderful. I still go every 6 months for checkups. Dr. Cary Anders is my oncologist ....dr. Clara Lee is my plastic surgeon. Love them both!!! My wonderful surgeon, Dr. Amos , sadly suddenly passed away last year. I see Dr. Nancy Moore now and she is wonderful also. You can pull up all the information on the UNC Women's Cancer Center website. Hope this helps. Good luck and feel free to p.m. Me.

Thank you too! It's tough to choose a good doctor, but personal experience can't be beat.
