Dimple,Indentation,Enlargement but No Lump!!!

Have posted on the site before but here is what is going on two years later, I have a dimple on my right breast at the 5 o'clock position, this has been there for 2 years and is now more visible than before, at the 2 o'clock position more on the chest rather than the breast I have an indentation which is quite deep and 3 fingers wide, inbetween my breasts at the lower part of the chest wall there feels like an indention also, under the right arm there is a slight indentation and the right breast hangs a little lower than the left....in the past 2 years I have had 3 mammograms, an ultrasound and two months ago an mri....nothing has been found, the doctors have not been able to tell me why I have these symptoms all centered on or around the right breast....I am way past the worrying stage but would like to have some clue as to what is going on...thanks for any help with these symptoms!!!!

    That is disturbing.  Have you had a second surgical opinion, at a different institution?

    thank you for responding...I have been seeing my breast specialist every 6 months for the past two years and he says everything is ok and to f/u in 6 months due to the mri not showing anything suspicious, my pcp says its ridiculous that I am seeing a breast specialist and assured me that I don't have breast cancer....she was offended that I went to a breast specialist without a referral from her but I was worried when I first found the dimple in Nov 2012.....I was sure that when I went for the mri 2 months ago they would be able to give me a dx of some sort, just tell me something, an explanation, anything but nothing....its really not my imagination....I see it, I feel it......when I went for the mri I was so stressed out I told myself "no more"......I am pretty much without support emotional or otherwise...is my concern unnecessary....I am making payments on the mri bill so do not feel like i can go any place else for the time being..thanks for listening to me and for taking me seriously ...that means a lot!!!!

    Dear Emma,

    Can you say how old you are?  If you are very young, perhaps that factors into your PCP's opinion.  As far as your mammos, ultrasounds and MRI's, those were ordered by the breast doc, right?  So that doc thought there was reason to follow up or he/she wouldn't have ordered those tests.  Were I you, I'd ignore the PCP's opinion.  

    Have you met with the breast specialist to ask what the possibilities are?

    thanks for responding...I am 52 and my sister is a breast cancer survivor.  Yes it was the breast doctor that pushed for the mri, I waited an agonizing two weeks for a call from the breast doc with the results who got my husband when he did call. my husband just reported to me that everything was ok...my next appointment with the doc is early 2015...when I had my last new symptom the doc berated me for coming into his office a few weeks earlier than the 6 mth f/u so I don't feel like I can go in early again.....this is totally frustrating and baffling to me considering that I have a dimple, several indentations and slight enlargement....

    Dear Emma,

     One thing--surgeons are touchy just by nature.  You have a choice--either you are unhappy not knowing or your doc is unhappy that he has to see you sooner.  I'd definitely choose the former were it me.  Your peace of mind is not worthless.

    Wow Emma your symptoms and lack of diagnosis after so many tests and continuous follow up sound so much like mine! I've been after my right breast since 2012, multiple ultrasounds, two mri's, three mammograms, one core biopsy. I see indentation, first time I realized my right breast was larger than the left was after my first diagnostic mammo in 2012. Right breast hangs lower than the left and feels lumpier and hurts more before my period as well. As a result of these many tests, I have also ended up having excisional biopsy on my left breast for microcalcifications that came back with ALH. No one has been able to find out what's going on with the right breast meanwhile. I've been to three breast surgeons. Two in very acclaimed institutions in california; UCI and Hoag. Going in for another mammogram next friday, 3D this time.....hoping they can tell me something!!!! Wishing you and everyone on these forums the best

    Hi Emma, just wondering if you have had any more help? I am going through a little similar situation, is your breast itchy at all? I am right now being treated for Cellulitist and I am on antibiotics, I also had a biopsy, waiting for results. I do not want to scare you, but have you asked for a biopsy of your skin surrounding the area with dimpling. Cellulitist and infiltrating breast cancer have the same symptoms, and only a biopsy can rule out what it is. I am also trying to find out more info on both, while I wait for the results. Maybe try and get a second opinion. Wishing you all the best , during these Stressfull times. Hugs

    hello,

    Joining in here. 16 months without ever knowing what happened. It started out with edema in the breast, pinkish and with small holes, one breast bigger than the other suddenly. I did countless tests and because i couldn't get an answer I had a breast reduction because the hospital REFUSED to do core biopsy (breast reduction which created fat necrosis problems) but gave me a dignosis of fibrocystic breasts with hyperplasia skin and inflammation.

    So I should be satisfied, right? Aside the absolute trauma of how far I went to get answers (and the breast reduction wasn't all that great), my lymph nodes on the right have blown up (but have been told they are just fatty lymph nodes after inflammation) and I have to have a revision of the breast reduction next year cos of bad job.

    Meantime, I ve lost 20 kilos through stress I suppose and have had a scare when I started having headaches 24/7 that somehow I had metastasis to my brain because the had missed something. (Imaging showed 10 white spots). Apparently just white spots, imaging will be done again in six months.

    I was never anxious but this saga has brought me to my knees and ridden me with health anxiety.

    The only way I have managed to deal with it is to live one day at a time and to learn to "let go".

    Living in uncertainty can really upset your life because you don't have a plan, you re left in limbo. And any other symptoms you get, you never know if they are related or not.

    I hope you all do get answers. The experience has taught me that only you can advocate for your own health!
