Went for my mammo today. I was very surprised when I got there to find out they now have 3-D mammos! Here in little old Hillsboro, OR! I was given the option of going with the traditional or the 3-D, as I was told insurance companies generally haven't been paying for the 3-D's as of yet. It would be around $95 out of my pocket if they didn't, so I went ahead and did it. Given the fact that I've already had BC in one breast and I've had a call back and ultrasound done on my remaining breast in the past, I figured $95 was affordable to give me reassurance/peace of mind with this latest technology. Now I have to wait until next week to hear results...
Almost made it to the weekend, though I do have to work Saturday morning, boo! Sounds like everyone's hanging in there. Hope you all have a great Friday.
-
Here's the Halloween project I finished yesterday that I started last year
-
hi hermettes! Been enjoying the pics and posts.
Had a good onco appt yesterday, major shrinkage of affected breast and tumors. They are very happy and so am I! Next chemo is the 10th and I am feeling good now, so will be getting out and doing things, while I can, till it all comes to an abrupt halt next Friday! Oh well....
I think the probiotics have changed the game for me. I am gonna stay on them. For those that are getting cool, enjoy it. It is a vile sauna here, no relief. I cannot wait for cooler air!

Good Morning ladies............before my son married his "now" wife of almost 25 years she gave him a balloon ride for the 2 of them for his birthday....................several times over the year they made appts. to go up...............first of all......I thought she was nuts (I have a fear of heights too) and not so sure my son was all gung ho about it either........but would never show her that fear......anyway
They tried 3 times that year to go up.....each time they got to the field the ride was cancelled....guy said "too windy".......apparently over so many MPH they ground balloons..............finally on the 4th try and another failure....I said to my son "hey this is a friggin "omen"........get your damn money back and bag that trip...................well "no refunds"........you either wait till they can take you up, or you lose your money.................never went, and lost $300.00...........so much for balloon rides..........
-
Ducky, no refund after 4 tries.
Bippy, I may go back to trying Activia.
MO, lovely!
Monis, Excellent Results!!
Blondie, have a restful weekend.
Jazzy, I'll be looking on October 8th.

No refund..........that is what I said .............but then again...my DIL was never one to go after things with a vengence like me...........she can't even return stuff when the store is wrong...........I would have been kicking and screaming for my money back.....................4 times...........now that is an omen......LOL......I told my son...............let her keep trying.....you keep your ass out of that balloon..........
-
Ducky i so agree. I don't mind flying in an airplane but nothing would ever get me on a hot air balloon!
-
Balloons are most fun to see when they are inflating and you are down on the field. There is something exciting about it that I cannot ever explain to people.
Here is a picture I took at a dawn patrol in 2010 when I had friends visiting for one of the weekends and we all went down to the field one morning in the wee hours to see the launch. You have to get down there by 5:30 a.m. which is why I don't go unless there is company visiting. Suffice it to say, I am NOT a morning person!
-
Going to sign contracts today to be ready to work next week. But the bigger news is measurements from the personal trainer today!
Since we started four weeks ago, I have lost 3 inches around my waist and 2% off the internal organ body fat we are working to get rid of first. My trainer says this is really good progress. We continue on through October and perhaps beyond. Big progress!
-
Joan Lunden today with a surprise visit from her family. She has a good crew supporting her. Nice family going on there too!
-
Jazzy, I'm not a morning person either til after me coffee!
-
Mommy- next monday I am doing a personal training session at 7 a.m. May the coffee gods be with me!
-
I'll make sure they are Jazzy!
-
Well done Jazzy, and you are enjoying it too

Hi hermits- contracts done and back to work Monday. But doing my personal training session first. My new commandment is "thou shall not interfere with my work outs!"
Monis- the place that diagnosed my bc here in 2012 had just gotten the 3D imaging. I had it done that year and since. They tell you your insurance may not pay but mine always does. It stinks though you have to wait for your results. When I go in for my follow ups, the radiologist reviews them right away and then comes in to tell me what she sees. We used to wait to hear if we might have bc, now we wait to hear if it may have returned. Wishing for clear films for you my friend.
Ducky- that is exactly right about the balloons. They take your money whether you go up or not. I think the only way around that is to get some sort of "trip insurance" for it. The biggest issue here during balloon fiesta is whether the winds will kick up and it can cancel the launches and/or the evening glows. There have been years here when 75% of the things have been cancelled due to rain or wind. People get so upset when that happens. But as we know, you cannot control the weather.
I might go to the balloon glow on Thursday evening this year. I tried to go last year but had a lot of company in and out of town during that time, so I was busy with other things. My client site is right next to the park, so no reason not to go unless the weather is crappy. We will see!
Mommy- I like your Halloween project. Are you big into that at your house? I think you have kiddos and know this is a fun time of the year planning for costumes, etc. Are you kids going trick or treating? Do they have their costumes planned?
Onco- I am sure it was airbrushed, but think she really was bald. But perhaps not that smooth though......
Blondie- girl decided she is tired of driving him around too.....
Lili, Mags, Bippy, Blondie, Cami, Teka and all my other friends here, wishing you a good evening.

I do decorate and its only me, my hubby and the two furbabies here.
-
jazzy, you are an inspiration with the exercise! Well done. I am unable to eat as healthy as i wish to during chemo, and too many starches, but it is all i can tolerate. But i will be able to eat better soon, after November. I walk each day as much as i feel good doing, and it is a start. I miss raw foods!
Am pondering my next career phase after treatment. either freelancing or temping, but i know it will be only 4 days a week max. I will not accept the same stressful, long hours that contributed to my illness. Also, never doing family law again!!!! Toxic. Also, i want to spend more time away in Maine where we have a small log cabin home. Nice to be able to plan anead, and see some light at the end. Also, thankful that we stayed in our small home here, as it will make it easy to work less. Priorities have really changed.....for the better.
Rainy here, but it precedes our first cold front, wwoooohoo! Ready for fall, i love winter. Heading out for breakfast with the gals, then coming home, opening the house up and letting the breeze in.
Have a wonderful weekend Hermies!
-
Balloon fiesta begins. First balloon that went up to test the air this morning to determine if they could launch. Watching from the comfort of my bed with coffee in hand!
-
Bippy- I did not worry about what I was eating during my treatment process, outside of being sure I got a lot of protein as all my docs said protein needed for healing from the surgeries as well as the rads. You need to focus on just eating things that work for you during chemo, and getting plenty of fluids and rest. It takes time to recover from all this and healing comes in phases. Exercise will be there for you down the line when you are ready. I started back slow and easy for a long time with my exercise and it was 1 1/2 years from my last rad treatment when I could even begin thinking about doing something like I am doing now just one short month ago. I have had to learn to be very patient with myself, and still feel like I am recovering......
I also think you would be happier doing freelance work and it allows you for a more balanced lifestyle. I am a freelance project manager, and I was self employed when I was diagnosed and worked 30 hours a week for awhile after diagnosis and during rad treatment, then was back to FT for awhile after. I am back to accepting only PT work. The good thing about freelance work is you can set the terms. I never told my clients or potential clients about my bc, because I did not want them to have a reason to not choose me for a project or contract.
-
Live video stream of the balloon fiesta here this morning! Note this will probably go until around 9 a.m. mountain so you may not see anything later in the day but check in the morning too (they begin around 7 a.m. mountain each morning!)

*Hermits*
-
Raining here today, but we need it. Got my decorations up for Halloween1
-
Hermits- getting into fall here. I had a slice of pizza at Whole Food today that had apple on it (yum) and bought some pumpkin beer too (for the Thanksgiving guests). Suddenly, fall is everywhere!
Mommy- I like that you have your decorations up early. There are people in my nearby neighborhood who do these incredible Halloween decorations at their house. One is already up, but the best house, not yet.
Teka- are the leaves falling yet?
-
I just saw this on FB and bet some of you can relate to this!
-
Yep. That is so my house when hubby gets sick. Even when I was on chemo except for maybe two or three days after treatment I still functioned.
-
Rainy day, which is needed in the North Country.
Yes, leaves are falling.
We just had Sloppy Joes for dinner. Easy Peasy!!
