New Lump

I found a good size lump during a self exam 3 weeks ago. I tried to play it off as my imagination for a few days. My husband felt it and told me to go see a doctor. My gyno sent me for an u/s then the radiologist wanted me to have a mammo, with several extra images (ouch!!) Both were "inconclusive" and my gyno sent me to a general surgeon. He suggested we remove the entire lump, hoping it's just fatty tissue, but some of it feels really hard. Outpatient surgery is scheduled for this Friday morning. I'm a nervous wreck, but am so ready to have it removed! Has anyone had a presumed lipoma/fatty tissue removed and ended up being malignant?

    It sounds as though your medical team is being responsive and
    acting properly to assess what they've found, and that's a great. Anyway, we
    recommend you to read the article What

    our main site. It reinforces that there are many other benign masses, including
    some that are especially common among young women.

    Waiting is not easy but beware of general searches
    on the internet as there is a lot of poor and inaccurate info out there.

    Thank you for the information!  It's so hard not to go to "Dr. Google" to get information. So far, I'm pleased with all my doctors and appreciate them not blowing me off.  I completed the rest of my pre-op stuff yesterday so now I just have to get through today and tomorrow.

    The surgery went well. The surgeon told my husband he's still hoping it's fatty tissue (lipoma). I have a follow up appt Thursday morning, but hopefully they'll call me with results before Thursday. I have to say, this is quite more painful than what I was anticipating. The pain meds make me dizzy and nauseous so I have to take Zofran, too. Thank you for the good thoughts, I will let you know what happens.

    I just got back from my surgeon ~ everything was benign!! It was just fatty tissue as he suggested, but was quite large. Praise the Lord!!  I do have breast contracture so we will have to address that. There is a huge difference in size now!  I appreciate all the good thoughts and prayers!
