My lungs seem to be getting better. Thank you all for asking and checking on me. I follow up this Tuesday. Was finally able to decrease to 40mg of the prednisone. Doing ok on the lower dose so far. But having side effects from being on these high dose steroids for so long. It sucks.
My hubby has been battling diverticulitis since August. He is having a colonoscopy on Oct. 7. Please say a prayer for him. He is so worried about colon cancer.
Thanks
Holli

Cindy, Vicki, Jen', I am open to a carpool if someone needs a ride on the 19th. I am off of C RD 138 (gattis school) and Hwy 130...
Holli, glad your lungs are getting healed! I know that diverticulitis must be worrisome for your hubby. I will pray that his colonoscopy goes okay. I meet with gastro Dr tomorrow before RO appt to see what's involved and get it scheduled. So not looking forward to it, but hey I have been through the wringer already, so what's a scope up your hiney...? haha!
Cindy, I hope your hubby gets well soon. Nice that you can get away. Hopefully your pup can keep hubby good company while you're gone.
If anyone else down South wants to get together, please chime in, so we can decide where to meet.
So looking forward to my annual family Fall get together Oct 10th! Had to schedule a little early this year, because DS and DIL are expecting a baby boy around TG. We are renting a cabin in the Lost Maples/Vanderpool area.
((HUGS))

jen', I hope your appt goes well today! Thinking of you~

BCRC is holding an "Ask the Experts" seminar on Oct 9th, from 6:30-8:30 pm at NAMC on Breast Cancer and Complementary Medicine. If anyone wants to carpool, let me know. I am planning to go. You can PM me if you like. You should RSVP to rshaefer@bcrc.org
Is anyone going to HH tomorrow evening?
Terri
-
RO is ordering US on Leftie....UGH! I think he is just being extra cautious, because that's how he is; and I have dense breasts. Feeling kind of numb. The Dr appts are so exhausting right now. End of rant.
-
Terri! Thank you and thinking of you as well. No HH for me- i have to work.
I ended up getting an endometrial biopsy and will be having a TrasV US next Monday. gyn says better to be cautious. That was NOT fun. I really hope I don't have to do that ever again.
Holli- glad your lungs are better. I will never take steroids again unless my life literally depends on it. So painful to step off of them. Hope you are feeling better soon.
-
jen', sorry you are having to do more tests... I know the biopsy was not fun; I hope yours is nothing. The waiting sucks.
Hoping to get my U/S scheduled this week and have it out of the way.
Onward through the fog!!!
-
Sorry you ladies are having to go through more tests and biopsies. Ugh! And, once again, the glorious waiting for results. Sending up prayers and good juju that all is well and docs are just being cautious.
Terri - I "may" go to HH tomorrow. I work downtown, so it will be on my way home.
-
Vicki, don't plan on me at HH tonight. If you go, let me know how it was~
-
U/S and DX mammo tomorrow afternoon...please keep me in your prayers!:) Found out RO ordered it "STAT"...gheez, thanks for the added anxiety, Doc.
-
(((Terri, Jen, Holli, Chaos, Kelsey, et al))
Whoa, I'm so sorry and am holding you tightly in my heart and lifting you up in prayer.
Please keep us posted on results and how y'all are feeling...gosh this is

Hubby goes in for pic line in the morning and back to 2X a day infusions at home...geez I'm a LVN again...but it's not more cancer...infection is just so ####

Hi Terri -
Just saw your note. Ended up staying late at the office....AND bringing work home. So no HH for me either. Good luck tomorrow!
Cindy, Holli, Jen, Chaos, Kelsy - thinking of y'all, prayers, good vibes, etc.

Jen', YAY!!!! Happy dance! Praying that your US goes as well. At least that one doesn't hurt:).
Thanks for all of your good thoughts and prayers:). I seriously don't know what I would do without this forum sometimes.
Just got back from U/S and DX mammo. The rad said she sees nothing of concern! whew is right!
Hope my BS and RO agree and I am done for 5 more months...
Cindy, hope your hubby feels better soon!

Hi ladies -
I think I have at least two more, possibly three (if Zelda comes) for the 19th. I have been corresponding when a women recently diagnosed with ILC (my cancer) and she has been corresponding with another central TX woman diagnosed either a week before or after her. They need the prayers, love, and support that you can only get from the TX Hill Country Warriors! I hope they stop by soon. Their screen names are NY2TXbaby and one4bemi. Please keep an eye out!
-
thank you vbishop for sharing this site with me and for welcoming me to this "special group of women" with such kind words. Yes - I am the newbie. Hasn't even been a week when I heard those 4 horrible words - you have BC. I know from reading many posts that everyone's diagnosis and treatment course is different but the journey seems to be the same. I am still in the disbelief stage and trying to just take one day at a time. Hope to meet some of you later this month. Candy
-
I hate to welcome anyone to this forum ... But welcome NY2TXbaby. This is a good - GREAT - group of ladies. This is one of the most positive and informational sites out there (in my opinion).
Whether you believe it or not... This stage of disbelief and shock is actually helpful. At least it was for me. If helped me do all the stuff- find doctors, get scans, get make decisions... Short term denial (note I said short term) is actually our body's way of protecting us from taking in too much at once.
Holli
-
Welcome Candy! I told you that you would love the ladies here - all ages, all stages!
Ladies - how about Saledo on the 19th? I've never been, but I hear it's great. If not there, other suggestions please...
Can't wait to see y'all again and meet the newbies
Hugs!
-
I wish there was a like button or better yet - a love button we could tap, when someone posts and makes you feel better with their words. Rhgsr - you are right - this has been. Great site to gather info and gather support. And I agree - thesis stGe is still allowing me to pretend I don't have BC. I know those days may be numbered as I move forward. But I keep telling myself...it is what it is and no amount of wishing, praying etc will change it. As vbishop said...just got to put my big girl panties in and deal with it!
Salado is very limited with restaurant choices especially on a Sunday. I used to have a gift shop there. Perhaps, somewhere in Georgetown? Not that familiar with everything there but they have a nice city square with several eating options. Wishing everyone. Good night...my brain is on overload right about now - it needs to sleep.
-
Georgetown is good too? Ladies? Thoughts?
-
welcome Candy, and sorry you are here.
I could not have made it this far without this website, and especially the boards. This particular board has been a great source of support and joy in the middle of the bc storm.
Please don't hesitate to ask questions, or PM me if you like. We will do our best to answer you.
-
GT works- there is an amazing Italian place by the campus...
-
Jen -
Candy is using S&W in Temple. Isn't your reconstruction doc out of Temple? She may have questions for you.
-
my BS was there, and my recon will be there- great team of folks.
-
I've heard great things about S&W temple. I saw my MO Tuesday and I think it was his nurse that was telling me her uncle is a PS there. I'll have to ask her his name.
-
salado has some good options:
McCain's Bakery and Cafe http://www.musthavemenus.com/places/mccains-baker...
then we could tool around and shop and end at my friends wine place http://saladowinery.com
anyone game? sounds like a gooood day to me.
-
I am game for whatever. I think Candy and her friend are coming from Waco/Belton area. Saledo will be closer...... -
Candy - welcome! Glad Vic linked you up...grr BC. These ladies are a great source of information, encouragement, and support. Agree that the disbelief and shock help you cope and begin to get things in place...so overwhelming and waiting for it to come together...head just goes bonk
We are in your pocket {{{squeeze}}} breathe, and be kind to yourself...big girl panties can be overrated...
Terri - cheers! Congrats on good results...:))) you&dd
Oct 19 yippee! Georgetown is great, Wildfire is my fav, there are lots of spots...and game for Salado too...but would need a ride.
Hubby got pic line in and someone dropped the ball on approval for infusions...GRRR. I talked with BC and they had not been contacted so I think someone assumed we only had Medicare....trying to get it resolved...hate when a pic line gets clogged and not flushed and hubby's infection just getting worse.
One4bemi - we are looking for you:))) when you are ready we are here.
It's quite right now and that is good...deep breathes
(((Hugs)))
Cindy
-
Either Gtn or Salado are fine with me. I used to go to both quite often, but haven't been in a while. Cindy, Vicki, Zelda, Jen', I'm happy to drive if anyone needs a ride.
Holli, Jo, I know it's quite a drive, but would love to meet you!Cindy, that would seriously get me steamed up! I hope you get it taken care of today.
-
ok ladies....
LOL!! I was killing some time at the Halloween store across the street from the oil change place. I saw this and it just made me laugh. Especially since I won't be having any surgery this year more than likely (due to the steroids and radiation pnuemonitis ). Nipples were supposed to be my December surgery. Takes a whole new tune to "All I want for for Christmas is my two front teeth"!! LOL
Oh the irony!! Ha ha!!
I found my Halloween costume!! LOL!!
