Had a great walking weekend!! Went to see Paul McCartney in San Diego, and stayed at a hotel on the Bay! Great walking paths!! Tired today, will hopefully get a walk in later!! Have a great day everyone!!! I am hearing the voices to get my butt up and walk!!!
-
Hi ladies- I have been invited here in the past by several on other threads and decided it was time to get on line here and join into the daily exercise post. I am two years out from diagnosis, but had a complicated journey and recovery due to a ruptured appendix that occurred right around the time of diagnosis, so I had a whole lot of surgery in a short period of time.
I went back to exercising awhile ago, but never felt very strong since my surgeries in 2012 and signed up to work with a personal trainer at my gym in early Sept for 2 months (3X a week) to get my strength and fitness back, and to also loose weight. I will be completing the first month with her end of this week, and am loosing inches (burning the fat as we build muscles) and rode my bike for the first time in two years last weekend (whoot whoot). I feel like I am on my way and going to make my fitness a priority in my daily schedule from now on and have some new tools in my toolbox to take better care of me.
So daily exercise, yesterday I did a personal training session (1 hour) in the am with my trainer that included some core/cardio work as well as strength training. End of the day I did about 20 minutes of yoga.
Today I hope to walk and also go to the gym for swimming, total for up to 90 minutes!

Hi, Jazzygirl!! Welcome, welcome!! You will just love this thread, so many wonderful and supportive ladies here!! Wow, your exercise regimin is awesome!! I also had a ruptured appendix, with a continued infection right before my diagnosis!!! I always wondered if there was a correlation between the two!! You are doing great!!!
-
Welcome Jazzygirl!
Wanted to share this article: study finds that viewing exercise as fun means you'll eat less afterwards. http://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/health-wellne...
-
If it wasn't raining today, I might have gone for a walk
-
Jazzy, GREAT to see you here!!!
Mary, I thought I could hear you screaming when I watched the sports highlights of that game. I am kind of sad because the Twin's manager (who is a very nice guy, but hasn't been winning) got the ax yesterday.
Went to my morning exercise class and then stayed & did 30 minutes on an elliptical (mostly because a friend said she'd stay if I did, so we could visit & get our exercise in at the same time.
Badger, I wish the 'if it's fun you will eat less' theory were true, but almost all my exercising is stuff I consider to be fun, and that has not made me eat one bit less!!

-
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Kindergarten- I have known two other people with cancer who got appendicitis, one had it rupture too. I do think there is a connection. My PCP told me the appendix is part of the lymph system and as you know, that is maxed out when we have cancer. You are further supported there is something between these two situations. I am glad you are okay and thanks for the encouragement!

Haven't posted in a few days and it always makes me lazy so haven't done much movement either!
Welcome Me1 and Jazzy. Ginger, my condolences for your loss. hbcheryl, you wear me out with your exercise regimen. ruthbru, I agree that thinking of exercise as fun (which I do when I do it!) doesn't make me eat any less. The study was probably with the 76 lb., 20-somethings (just kidding).
Coming here motivates me somewhat so going to log off in a bit and hop on the treadmill.
Night my sculpted friends.
-
Ginger, sorry that your FIL has passed. My condolences to your husband and family.
Welcome Ann and Jazzy.
Claire, sounds like a lovely trip and looking forward to some photos.
Mary how exciting to see a no-hitter.
I'm catching up a few days. I walked 30 minutes today. 15 minute walk Sunday. Yesterday was a comedy of errors trying to exercise. it was 80 and sunny and I thought what a great day for a long walk after work. Decided to walk in the woods for some shade but was getting attacked by mosquitos, so I came home and got out my bike. As soon as I started riding, the wind switched and I nearly froze in my tank top and shorts. It was 63 when I got home. So I got in about 1/2 of the exercise I intended!
-
Grr no exercise today. Had a loooong work day. Will try tomorrow.
-
went to my livestrong.org class, did stretches, strengthening and light weights. 1 hr. feels great!

First WOD in two months. It felt good!
-
No exercise today...worked extra since I have Friday off and just finished dinner a little while ago. Was hoping to ride the stationary bike but my full dinner belly won't allow it yet. If I don't get on it tonight, I am determined to do it tomorrow. Send LOUD, STRONG Voices so I will hear you!!
-
Welcome all new ladies!
Ginger: So sorry about your FIL.
Hello All. Was able to get out for my fast walk/run this evening. Getting hot again.
-
Welcome to the newbies!
Went to bootcamp tonight for an intense hour of circuit training with lots of liquid awesome.
Good night all.
-
I'm a bit sore after being on the weight machines last evening, so I went for a brisk walk tonight. It was a beautiful fall evening.
Thanks for the warm welcomes!
-
Well it was rainy and dull today so I am afraid that I did the same as my beloved Patriots that I watched on Monday Night Football, absolutely nothing .I just worked on the computer. I did sit on my recumbent bike for about 5 minutes but my FITBIT just ignored it so I got off!!
Tomorrow is a long drive and work from office day so I will try to at least get a short walk at lunchtime.
-
Did a 5k run tonight. Now watching the rest of a webinar I couldn't finish because I had a meeting conflict last week.
But here is the fun stuff. First, Home Sweet Home for two night compliments of the new guy in my life. Really fits one person better so glad he was off elk hunting.
Next a close-up of Horse Heaven Hills. You may have heard of H3 wine...well guess what that stands for?
From inside the Horse Heaven Hills Saloon.
The area produces 75% of the country's hops and this is taken VERY seriously. Very delicious, as was the food.
Setting off on Day 1. Top of Mount Rainier in the distance. Gorgeous scenery. Second picture is Mount Adams.
Vineyards and HHH in the background at the rest stop. Very strong scent of grapes. Hop vines in the distance.
More grapes, farms and the hills on the other side of the valley on Day 2. We cycled to Benton City.
Heading back to Prosser on the Old Inland Empire Highway which follows the Yakima. Notice the oasis created by the river, and how necessary irrigation is for things such as hops, wine, fruit (saw lots of apples and pears), dairy farming, and asparagus!
Just found out that I made the right decision to go the very scenic route back. The main road was blocked for hours due to an accident. I missed all the fun, plus saw new places. Life is great. - Claire
-
I got 30 mins in on the elliptical. A 90 year old could have outpaced me but it felt good to get some movement in. Also went for an evening walk with DH and dog.
-
Welcome Jazzy great to see you over here. Lovely pics Claire. LB you must be very limber Body Balance and Yoga all in the same day
Had lunch today with a couple of BCO friends which was lovely and then went to a clients office to pick up a job and darn it if my car didn't die on me, got it towed and when I got to the mechanics the darned thing started, he sent me on my way and told me to park facing out wards wherever I go in case I need to be towed again so I'm sticking to home / work, had a friend come and pick me up tonight to go to the gym for Body Jam, what a fun class our intrepid leader was back from her honeymoon, the place was packed and we danced our socks off, great evening.
-
was going to walk around the block today but its day 2 of rain all day
-
Claire - beautiful pictures! Cheryl - oh, having to be towed - a broken down car sure makes a mess of a day, doesn't it? LA - what's the castle-like fortress in your avatar? Looks interesting.
More killer workouts last night in the running clinic - 5.5 miles of intervals on the track. Brutal, but oh so worth it. Somewhere in all of that my running app said I did my best 5K ever on the app (I've had it for almost 2 years) so these training exercises must be doing me some good. Of course, that best 5K is still painfully slow (that figurative 90 year old that was racing LA on the elliptical could probably beat me too!) but it's progress for me.
And I put in my leave slip to take Friday off for the first Nats postseason game - I'm pumped!!!!!
-
Feeling good after a one hour ride. Now, on to my day.
-
Claire- what a fun trip and beautiful pics! I see a bike in the mix here.
-
Well, you don't come here for a few days and you have 4 pages to read. Have to admit I just skimmed, hope I didn't miss anything important.
Claire - glad you are happy!
What are the dates for San Diego next year? The wedding was my first trip to California, we were in the Del Mar area of San Diego, just beautiful. I took many lovely sunset pictures.
I've been keeping at it with exercise, the usual walking at lunch, gym, and classical stretch. Sunday DH and I took advantage of a summerlike day for a long walk on the beach. I decided that I will go back and do a modified C25K program again. Walking is great, but walk/run intervals really get my heart pumping, which I have decided I need! I'm going to take it very slowly (and all treadmill for now), but hopefully by the spring I will be ready to run a 5K.
-
Might jump on the Gazelle tonight after dinner for 15 minutes since i couldn't do my walk outside today!
-
Yes, Jazzy, I am sure my lymph system was compromised because of the ruptured appendix!! But we are strong survivors!!!
Did the stationary bike, elyptical and a walk today!!! Feeling Good!!!
Claire, nice pictures!!!
Cheryl, sorry about your car! Would love to do lunch with you sometime!
-
Welcome Jazzy and Cheryl, hope your car stays starting.
Freestyle step and body balance at the gym this morning.
-
Today I did my hour of personal training today with my trainer (upper body circuit training with some leg stuff thrown in) and then went and did 30 laps in the pool. Double work out!
I am interested in the Garmin Vivofit wrist band. Anyone have one? Pros and cons?
