Scar tissue after reconstruction

I had a bilateral mastectomy followed by immediate reconstruction on September 6, 2012.  I developed a considerable amount of scar tissue around the expanders.  During my exchange surgery the surgeon had to remove excess scar tissue.  My exchange surgery was in April 2013.  I have grade III capsular contracture around my permanent implants.  I did everything that I was supposed to do during the healing process.  I am disappointed and discouraged.  I have Allergan 410 (I think that is right) implants.  Has anyone else dealt with this issue and do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Debbie - contracture is not unusual.  I had two sets of implants, each lasting an average of 12 years.  The second set developed a lot of scar tissue.  I finally had DIEP so I would not have to deal with the contracture and the wonky looking boobs any more.  I also will not have to replace implants again.  Please do not think this is your fault.  It just happens, each body accepts implants differently.  My suggestion would be to do some research, find a couple of PS that do both implants and flap procedures - and that those procedures are their main practice - doing several hundred a year (flaps at least once a week).  Then go for a consult and see what they suggest.  A second or third opinion never hurts.
