Let's Post our Daily Exercise

Hi mel147, welcome to the thread, I've only been here a few weeks and I only do a little bit of exercise twice a week at the YMCA but it's better than nothing and the gals here keep encouraging me and I'm starting to hear the "Voices" (don't ask me I'm still learning). Hope you get over the virus soon and get up and go!

Welcome, Mel!
-
Red - Cleo is beautiful.
Ruth, you exhaust me just reading your posts!!! Luckily I love a good iced coffee.....
Welcome Mel. Start whenever but start slowly. Every little bit counts.
Hit the gym for 30 minutes on the Elliptical tonight. Will get lots of exercise tomorrow at a work gathering at a local amusement park. See lots and lots of walking in my future.
-
I'm getting back on track and have assumed I will be cleared Monday so today I did a 10 mile ride. Ahhh. Tomorrow is 5K in the OneRun for the Cancer Support Community.
-
Welcome, Mel. That will happen to me, too. I do well for six weeks, get sick and then its hard to pick back up but you'll get to it.
Ruth can come to my house if she needs more exercise ie cleaning, laundry. Oh and Mmomato3 can come do my cabinets too!
Aurora, I had a cancer yoga class and there were only two of us and one was in treatment so I frequently got a personal lesson. it was nice.
Cleo is pretty. Dogs make good companions and sometimes they make you feel as guilty as "the voices".
Teacher you are enthusiastic - a 5K and 10 mile rides!
I walked my dog but he was kind of gimpy so after 15 minutes I brought him back, got on my bike and rode 25. It feels good to stress different muscles. Then I came home and did these goofy jumping exercises because I read it was good for your bones..
-
hi everyone. I am feeling better. Thanks for the get well wishes. This afternoon I decided to take a walk since I have not exercised in 3 days and before I knew it, I was running. It felt so good and I think I cleared the rest of that virus out. Just did 3.3 miles today and will do 4.5 on Sunday.
Needed to work some stress out as my father-in-law is in the hospital and is not expected to last the night. DH will not leave his side; my heart is breaking for him.
-
Oh Ginger I am so sorry. Red Cleo is gorgeous nothing like a whining dog to make us get up and go. Welcome Mel we all start with baby steps, just start that's the most important thing. Happy Anniversary Mary. Happy Birthday Wonderland you cake sounded wonderful. Mommato3 you sure have been busy. Teacher you are roaring back hope your appointment Monday goes well.
I went to Spin in Wednesday and did Sh'bam on Thursday and when I came home each night I was so tired that I ate dinner and fell asleep on the couch, and today my only exercise has been cleaning and doing laundry.
-
hi all and welcome newbies! Love this thread. Very supportive and inspirational. And, yes, all movement 'counts' as exercise.
Happy anniv Mary and Happy (belated) B-Day Wonderland.
Ginger, so sorry to read about your FIL. ((hugs))
Ruth, great job recruiting for WWW (Weds Women Walking) and fun new pic w/camera & coffee cup. Is there a slice of cake in front of you, out of camera range? :-)
Weather's been gorgeous this week. Haven't posted for a few days but been walking on breaks and also after work. Logged 25 miles for the week.
In Milwaukee tomorrow for the final Brewers game of the season.
It's a beautiful morning and I'm headed out for a walk after I finish my second cuppa. ♥ to all.
-
Mel - welcome! All of us have been where you are now - weak and worn out by cancer and active treatment. Some days all I could do was walk to the corner and back - but it was a start. Do what you can, but be good to yourself too. It will come.
Ginger - I'm so sorry about your FIL. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts.
Happy B-Day Wonder! Red - what a cutie Cleo is - how could anyone resist that face??? Teacher - so good to see you feeling better after all you've been through recently. MT3 (short for Mommato3 - hope you don't mind the nickname!) - you're doing all that while still in active treatment? I'm incredibly impressed!!!
Ruth - Glen Perkins arrived!! Here's a picture of him taking a walk in the garden before he joined a place of honor in the Out of Town Scoreboard section of our bobblehead collection. After all, as a Twin, he's almost a Senator, right? What a fun surprise to come home and find the package at the door - thank you so much for thinking of us!
Badger - have fun at the Brewers game tomorrow! I'll be at the Nats game tomorrow, so we can watch the progress of each other's games on the out of town scoreboard. Hope Bernie Brewer gets to slide down the slide a lot!! I'm so excited that the Nats are in the postseason - we have our tickets already and can't wait.
My running clinic group is keeping my busy! We had a 5.75 mile run along the C & O Canal tow path early this morning - here's a picture of my pace group and coach that we took at the half way point. I'm the second from the right in the Pikes Peek 10K shirt, and our coach is behind us. (Lucky guy gets to coach all these beautiful women!) I really feel that this group and the coaching is helping my running so much. Next weekend we're scheduled for a 6 mile "Monument Run" in DC which will take us past all the monuments. That should be great.
-
Today I walked a mile with a friend who'd just had surgery a couple of weeks ago. It was in the OneRun to benefit Cancer Support Community.
-
Had a meeting for the exec board of my neighborhood association so I walked over to the secreatary's house and walked back. She lives one street over from mine.
-
Great pic Mary it's nice that your group is running in different areas, the monument run sounds interesting. Enjoy your time at the game tomorrow Badger. Kindergarden I was in your 'hood this morning, a friend and I drive up to Torrance and did Body Combat at the 24 on PCH and Crenshaw, alas there was no Eduardo otherwise I would have let you know but still it was a fun class, new release with lots of crazy moves, my poor shoulders are really 'feeling' it now.
-
Wonderful picture Nats! The monument run sounds like so much fun. At least you know it won't be 100 degrees!
Ginger: So sorry to hear about your FIL. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts.
Mel: Welcome! I hope you start feeling better soon.
Hello everyone. Today has been sunny with decent humidity. I push mowed for 1 hour and fifteen minutes and I wasn't too wet afterwards.
-
Hello all. I'm new to BC and to this discussion board but I found all your posts so encouraging. I've been a runner most of my life. My most recent marathon was in February this year. My first chemo was yesterday. Image my surprise when I went out for my usual 5 mile run this morning and had to quit after 2 as I thought my head was going to explode. Obviously I have some expectations that need adjusting as I have 5 more rounds of chemo and radiation to get through! Like all of you, I will not give up and do what I can.
-
Welcome, LARock. Yes, you just have to play it by ear during chemo.... do what your body will let you. Whatever you can do will help you bounce back faster once you are done.
Ginger, so sorry about your FIL. Thinking of you all.
Glad Glen made it to your garden, Mary. There was no question as to what I should do with my extra Bobblehead! Your running group looks great!
I did an old 40 minute FIRM toning workout this morning & a fast 40 minute fast walk with DH this afternoon.
-
Ginger sorry about your FIL and sorry for your husband. I do find the exercise helps during those stressful times so I hope it helped you a bit.
Nice picture, Mary. Your group can compete with Ruth's WWs for best picture every week!
Welcome LARock. If you could run 2 miles after chemo, you did better than I did through chemo. It's pretty hard on the body so do what you can but don't beat yourself up or worry if you're not your normal. It'll come back.
I did the same workout Wonderland did. I mowed back and front 90 minutes and then had to rake about 20 minutes. I'm ready for two aspirin and a hot bath.
-
Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm happy to report I managed 15 minutes on the stationary bike today...very slow pace and all flat, no inclines at all, but I did it! I've been burned before starting to do too much too quickly, so I've learned my lesson on that. I also did laundry and dishes...doesn't count for cardio, but perhaps for a light stretching?
NatsFan - I'm originally from Northern VA...my brother and my best friend are big Nationals fans and my friend and her family were going to the game yesterday, too!
LaRock - you're a rockstar in my book being able to run after chemo! Take care
Wonderland - Happy belated bday...your cake sounded great! Thankfully I slept really well last night...I think I only coughed once during the night and hardly at all today. Am happy about that! I'm in NC, too
auroaya and TwoHobbies both mention the "voices"...I'm intrigued...does this mean I need to read all 21,900 posts in this thread to figure out what they are??
-
Thank you for the warm welcome ladies. I too am wondering about the Voices??
I managed to do the 5k on the treadmill again yesterday - just over 42 mins, half jogging half walking. That pretty much did me in for the day and I vegged out afterwards. I did not think I was going to make it as I had not had my morning protein drink but was pleased.
Today I was fatigued and stayed in bed until lunchtime but then I cleaned out 3 drawers in my bedroom cabinet. I threw out an entire black bin bag of old undies and found enough socks to last me for the rest of my life I guess.
I went for a 2 mile walk this afternoon as the weather was glorious and tomorrow will hit the gym again unless DH decides to book some golf.
Bad news is that I smelled curry as I was finishing my walk and it made me hungry so DH picked me up an order from the local Indian Restaurant (which is really good) on his way back from the gym. I lay in bed and ate it all and now I am so bloated and disgusted after a good day yesterday Lol.
-
The Voices is us encouraging one another. You may hear us in your head on days when you just don't feel like exercising. And it may get you off your duff. Works for me!
Walked my 4 mile route this morning then this afternoon walked to the library and market. Logging 8.7 miles for the day. Good night my sculpted sisters. ♥ to all
-
Ginger, sending heartfelt prayers and hugs to you and DH. Hope your hubby can find comfort in his memories.
Exercise for me today was walking all over a local amusement park. Course I undid all the exercise by eating some really good but bad food ..
I am a tired puppy so I am going to bed. Have a good night all
-
"Voices", in other words, peer pressure! But good, loving peer pressure.
I undid my exercise last night, too. My dinner was Paleo approved steak and half a plate of broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, onions, red bell pepper sauteed in olive oil (feeling good about myself and my day) and then my son came down and made brownies. You know what happened next.
-
Gonna get going soon on the laundry and vaccuuming and start working on the chicken pot pie for dinner. My excecise for the day!
-
Between the run, the yard work, and walking the dog, I did over 22,000 steps yesterday! Didn't even feel all that guilty when I promptly undid it by going out for Mexican last night. At least we walked to the restaurant.
Off to the Nats game today - will catch a bikeshare bike from the Metro to the ballpark, then lots of walking at the ballpark. Bringing my own food in so that I can resist the yummy (unhealthy) ballpark food. Badger - have fun today at Brewers Park!!
-
Terrific photo Mary and welcome LARock and Mel. Red, Cleo is adorable.
Yoga at 8am this morning and three hours in the sun this afternoon of clearing the dead and unwanted - then planting tulip bulbs at the front of the house.
-
Did some toning with the FIRM ladies.
-
Got my 3 mile run in today. I had to slow the pace down to manage the head pressure but it felt good. Woohoo!
-
Excellent LARock - you are a star!
-
Ladies, I am going to start posting on this thread because I desperately need to get back into shape. I recently enrolled in the LiveStrong classes at our local Y to jumpstart my program. Today I walked two miles at a decent pace. I'll be having my stage 2 DIEP sometime next year and I'm determined to be as fit as possible before my PS works his magic. Thank you for allowing me to join you.
Ann
-
Ann, I too enrolled in the LiveStrong classes at the Y and been going now for 6 weeks twice a week. I really started feeling the difference after the first two classes. I had a broken femur last year and did PT for 4 months but did nothing to my range of motion, now that I'm in the livestrong class I have improvement plus I'm really motivated. It's a start. I still walk with a cane so free walking is hard for me but I have elliptical machine at home that I should use more often. It helps to come here and read so I feel guilty if I don;t do anything.

Aurora, thanks for sharing!I am excited about what the program can do for me.
