A measly 15 minute walk today after a long dentist office visit.
-
TwoHobbies, repeat 5 times, "any amount of exercise is not measly". Now believe it.
Ginger48, think about joining us in San Diego in June 2015. We have 2 condos so plenty of room and tons, tons, tons of fun.
30 min walk on treadmill with incline at 5.
Night my sculpted friends.

Rest day for me today but back to bootcamp tomorrow night.

Hi Ladies, I have been visiting the gym regularly and had a half hour session with a trainer on Monday. Yesterday I did some of the weight machines and half an hour on a cross trainer. I was quite excited as my FITBIT arrived. My best effort so far is a 5k on the treadmill that I managed in just under 45 mins - part jogging and part walking (well more walking) but my knees get a little sore if I try to jog too much.
Wednesdays and Thursdays are my long drive to office days so I don't do a whole lot. I managed just a 10 minute walk around the parking lot that felt like a mile as I forgot to put on comfy shoes then walked up and down the stairs several times in my bare feet as they were so sore!!
It was fitness check up appt. at work today to get a small discount on 2015 health insurance. Numbers were all fine except my fasting blood glucose was 102, which is not high but is high for me and I am thinking it may be the tamoxifen that I started last month or maybe I was a little dehydrated. Not to worry.
-
Out today..study of skirt size.
-
Yesterday I did get in some exercise in the afternoon. I walked down the street to the store to get some milk and cough drops for hubby for his throat.
Today's excercise: laundry!
-
Lilac, I think the research says that people with the large tummy have a higher risk of heart attacks & heart disease too (men & women alike). I am up early to do a surprise sub gig in 7th grade Science!!!
-
The running clinic schedule had a 3 mile run on the calendar for this morning, but it was pouring rain like crazy, so I opted for 45 minutes on the elliptical instead.
It's DH & my 32nd anniversary today - we're meeting with a bunch of friends at the local pirate tavern after work for pirate-y fun and a mug of grog. Arrrgghh, mateys!

Claire, what a nice surprise from your breast surgeon! You are certainly living your life to the fullest, and inspiring many on here with your activities and culinary skills. I sing in my church choir, and the other day at the beginning of the season get together, I had two different people ask me about my health. One was a conversation about oncologists, and that they felt an oncologist had to be detached to deal with so many people with devastating diagnoses. I told them I felt just the opposite - my oncologist is a warm and caring man, and very spiritual, and ever visit he impresses upon me that you need to live well and be happy. My other conversation was that in a way cancer was a real wakeup call for me, and that I needed to stop waiting for the "right time" to do things, and start living my life to the fullest. You truly embody that Claire.
Oh Mary, I'm afraid yoga is not for me. There were people of all ages in the class, but yes, I did have that 25 year old next to me doing advanced poses! While I really loved some aspects of the class (breathing, relaxation, certain poses), there seems to be a lot of being on your knees in yoga, and that is not a comfortable position for me at all. By the end of the class my knees were screaming, finally some ibuprofen and rest helped last night. The knee pain kind of prevented me from fully experiencing the relaxation part. My husband (who loves yoga) said I should do modified positions, etc., but I think I'll just stick with Classical stretch, which hardly ever puts you on your knees. It's some yoga, tai chi, balance, and body weight exercises, and I feel really good when I do them in the morning.
Off to the gym tonight for a session with the trainer. Looks like rain here today, so no walk at lunch, but I'm grateful for the rain as it has been very dry here.
-
iyzzysmom, welcome and 5k under 45 is excellent! Yes Ruth, apple shape and supposedly, skirt is easier to convey overall meaning than bmi stats. I enjoyed the comments (scroll to the bottom) regarding the article, the most.
Body balance, pink pilates, and yoga today.
-
patoo- I would love to join you in San Diego (I have never been to the west coast) but I think the dates are right around our last week of school so I could not get there.
Pat01- you might want to look into Svaroopa yoga. Not the same traditional poses. It is all about opening up the tailbone and spine to reduce tightness. Some meditative breathing and fully supported by blankets for poses. I love it!
No running for a couple of days for me...I seem to have come down with a virus that causes dizziness when I turn my head or bend over.
-
Man, I am TIRED! The 7th grade science classes were crammed full of students who were doing a small group activity, so I did not sit down for even one second but spent the whole day roaming the room trying to keep kids on track. Lucky I was NOT wearing a step counter or it would have blown up! I had already made a date to walk with my fast walking neighbor; so after school we walked really far and long, and now I am going to sit in a chair with my feet up and do NOTHING!
-
Welcome lyzzysmom!
Happy Anniversary Nats! Have fun tonight.
Hope you start feeling better, Ginger.
Hi All! Yesterday was my birthday - 59 years now. I was asked by my family what I wanted for my bday and I told them all I wanted was a cake. Boy, have I been enjoying my delicious cake! Just came in from my fast walk/run and plan to eat some more of it.

We all know Pinktober is already upon us. Today I was in a big department store. I didn't buy anything but I overheard a cashier asking a lady who was checking out if she wanted to donate $1 to Breast Cancer. Not Breast Cancer Awareness (whatever that is), not to a specific cancer organization or anything like that. Just Breast Cancer. Dang it Breast Cancer! First you took my breast and now you want my money!I
What a greedy bastard. -
Happy Anniversary, Natsfan! Welcome, Iyzzysmom! Happy Birthday, Wonderland! What kind of cake?

-
Happy Anniversary Nats. Hug Mark for us. Wonderland, Happy Birthday. You're still a young one. Ginger48, keep it in mind, just in case the dates can work out. izzysmom, Welcome. Like LilacBlue says, 45 mins for a 5K is wonderful. I can barely break an hour - hmmmm, probably because I do more walking than running. ruthbru, you have certainly earned the right to put your feet up.
Just 30 mins on the treadmill with only 3 x 1 min runs. Won't be home tomorrow evening so will take night off but try and make it up Sat/Sun.
Night my sculpted friends.
-
Ears plugged on what kind of cake. I'm low carb this week, can't even hear about cake!
Wonderland, breast cancer took plenty enough of my money already!
I don't know if skirt size will work in the US. They have altered sizes to make us think we're not fat. Anyone else notice that? in my twenties I wore size 6 pants. I wear size 6 today and I'm 14 pounds heavier and in fact, have worn size 6 as high as 20 pounds heavier, depending on the brand.
I ran errands this evening. I hope the "ran" in that sentence counts because that's all I got done and now its dark already. I think I'll have to do the exercising first and errands afterward.

TwoHobbies: Beware! Cake description below.
Ruth: Yellow cake mix (my favorite) with strawberries and jam between the layers. Homemade icing made with cream cheese, whipping cream, and sugar. Yum!

-
Went to my livestrong.org YMCA class tonight and there were no other participants but me so I had the trainer all for myself. So she signed me up in the computer and set my baselines for 8 different machines 5 to work on range of motion for my legs and two for upper torso fitness, afterwards I did 6 minutes in the nustep machine and 6 min in the bycicle and ended with stretches. It was a really good work out and I felt great.
Aurora
-
Great Aurora!
Gained several pounds just reading about the cake!
TwoHobbies, muscle weights more than fat' so if you are fit you can weigh quite a bit more and still fit into a smaller size (and look good doing so). If my theory is incorrect, please do NOT correct me! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

-
Happy anniversary Mary. Love hearing about couples lasting these days when it seems like most people just toss in the towel if things get tough.
Happy Happy birthday Wonderland!!! Enjoy your cake as a wise person once told me that birthday calories don't count...LOL
Today's exercise was bootcamp. Shocking I know.....LOL
Sweet dreams all!
-
Gonna go for a walk little later and get me a treat from Dunkin' Donuts!
-
Mary, congratulations to you and DH! Happy Birthday Wonderland!! Aurora, well done on your livestrong class and it's great that you had one-to-one training no less. TwoHobbies, sizes here are different and I'm sure you are muscle (per Ruth's theory). Hope you feel better soon and back out running Ginger.
Powerstep with hand weights and body balance this morning at the gym.
-
Got a bit more excercise than I had planned today. Went and got a small pumpkin iced coffee from Dunkin and then when I came home I folded and put some of hubby's laundry to be put away when he comes home. Now I'm relaxing!
-
Went to Yoga, took a walk, washed clothes, washed floors, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned bathrooms.....whew, now I need one of MOmmy's pumpkin iced coffees!!!!
-
Wow, you did alot ruth!
-
I either need the coffee or a nap!

-
lol know how that goes!
-
Haven't posted on here for a while. My exercise routine for the last few weeks has consisted of refinishing the kitchen cabinets, doing a tile backsplash, painting all but two rooms in the house, and of course the daily and weekly cleaning of the house and the 15 loads of laundry I do each week for the five of us. I'm sure it's not actually 15 loads but it sure feels like it sometimes!! I'm down to eight more T/H/P treatments. I've felt pretty good so hopefully I'll be able to get on the treadmill next week.
I sure wish I liked iced coffees! Maybe I'll find something else to reward myself.
-
Hi, worked this morning, but got out to play 9 holes of golf this afternoon. I will walk the dog at 7 or she will whine and cry at me. lol This is Cleo.

-
RedReading - Cleo is a cutie!
Hi, ladies - So, I added this thread to My Favorite Topics earlier this week. I peek at it and read what everyone is doing but haven't posted because, well...I haven't been doing anything...yet! The key word here is "yet." You all are motivating me and I hope to get moving soon. I think I've managed two, or maybe three days on the treadmill a few weeks ago before, as my best friend says, "the wheels came off." I've been sick with a virus since last Wednesday...the cough is lingering so I'm anxious for it to go away so I can make an attempt at this exercise stuff that I know I should be doing.
