OMG Mags" He's my favorite doc after my onco. You know, the kind that looks at you instead of a computer screen." That was one item that I took Endoc doc to task over. He typed almost the whole time I was with him for an appointment. For many of the docs I would get their office notes. With the Endoc, I didn't except for last office note-----I was flabberghasted. One word------FICTION. There were so many wrong things, but the clincher was, I had laundry list of s/s's and after the computer prompt:  Patient Complaints: he documented " NONE." Still not sure what to do. But he's history.

It will be interesting if you read the historical info on STTM, to see your comments. Your doc is managing you the way docs did before TSH. Med AND listening to how you felt.

Hi Di :) On Insomnia it's 24/7. Someones there almost all the time. Slows down on Friday and Saturday, but many threads do, come visit  ;).  The brain tumor was removed before it turned cancerous. We had done serial MRI's for two years. It was stable until fall of 2011. When the fall 2011 MRI, showed it was starting to grow, out it came. It's unknown if it would have turned cancerous, but they can. Plus, if they just grow , the size can put pressure on other structures. So, there were two justifications to get "Little Bean" out. Yeah, Lol, I named the sucker :)

Hope your sleep straightens out. Check out the links I have in Insomiacs topic box, maybe there's a pearl or two to help.

Reminds me of a study sometime in the last 5 to 6 years. The conclusion of the study was that concentrating on one thing will help b/c it allows a particular area of the brain to become unclogged(Corpus Callosum) and the mind will relax and allow sleep. LOL reading that one. They proved that counting sheep, prayer, the eastern religions  chanting, all work. Your method of self hypnosis uses the concentration of thinking of one thing. :)

Sas, I continued to be amazed at your knowledge and encouraged by your victory over too many challenges. In my pm back to you, I somehow thought Dr. Rind was in Tampa. Please ignore. I'll keep your doctor's name in mind in case I need a second opinion.

Living near the most prestigious military medical center in the country certainly has advantages. It's a research and teaching hospital too so we get a mix of sharp young docs and wise experienced older ones. If you need a check up or a band-aid you might wait forever, but if you are really sick, it's just the opposite. They are on the cutting edge of medicine.

    Thanks for all your help.

Sandra we are all challenged, we just keep moving forward. Sometimes the best we can do is one minute at a time, other times we are like fighter jets moving at Mach3

Your concern about STTM info as being anecdotal. Portions of it are, but if you read the forward by Janie Bowthorpe M.Ed. She's put the book together as someone that has a Masters in Education would be able to do properly. What's tough about the STTM web site is you can't see how cohesively the info is intergrated. Plus, the web site concentrates too much on patient anecdotal stories. But the technical pages are put together by Janie and a couple of others.

If anyone is looking at what labs are need, my list wasn't complete. Vita d, folate, iron panel, Cmet, CBC, B12, That along with the FT4,FT3, RT3, TSH, Celiac antibodies, Tg & antibodies and/or TPO. Think I got the list right now. Sandra forgot the CBC in the PM list. Oh Vay, hope that's it

Dr. Rind is in Washington DC. On his web site he has a mechanism to contact him. The way it's worded, I take it he will answer questions.

One new learning insight started early this past  week. I was having side effects consistently with the porcine thyroid 90 mg taken once a day dissolving under the tongue. I missed a dose. It turned out to be an excellent miss. The evening s.e's didn't occur, but then occurred in the a.m. Viola or Voila! S.E's are Dose and timing related. Split the dose  Now taking half a pill twice a day, 12 hours apart. The s.e's that were troublesome have minimized.  YAY

It need not discourage us if we are full of doubts.  Healthy questions keep faith dynamic. In fact, unless we start with doubts we cannot have a deep-rooted faith.  One who believes lightly and unthinkingly has not much of a belief. One who has a faith which is not to be shaken has won it through blood and tears--has worked his or her way from doubt to truth as one who reaches a clearing through a thicket of brambles and thorns.

Long day, but a good one.  Interesting reads though I had to scan/read quickly.  Work to do before I can go to bed and need to be back to work by 7 a.m. in the morning.

    Blessings,

Sandra I sure wish I had something funny to say to make you laugh.  Changes in  schedule like that are so distressing.  While it's true a test that tells the surgery would not be good for you is wonderful to have available, it is also true they could check the results a little earlier and not put you through all that.  When I was working I would be furious with people actually reading the reports in the hallway before a meeting started.  Hope this is all settled soon.

Jackie, Mimi, Chevy, and Sas ... and you all hiding on the last page ... good afternoon.

Sandra, am hoping you have gotten an appointment to see a doc to help with your thyroid issues.  I think you said the surgeon was rescheduling surgery for a month from now.  My guess is you are anxious to get back on track.

I was lucky to get an appointment for next Monday for a needle aspiration and possible biopsy.  When I went for my first post diagnosis mammo today, I knew I would probably be getting something.  I have a lump along my lumpectomy scar that my MO has been watching for 6 months.  I was offered another watch period but choose aspiration and possible biopsy.

The weather is supposed to cool off here.  Normally, I would attack my yard chores as I love fall in the yard.  However, the smoke from the California King fire is blanketing this area causing alerts for seniors to stay indoors.  I shouldn't be complaining because I think the poor teachers have had indoor recess with their kiddos for a week or more now.  I remember indoor recess ... 5th and 6th graders hated it!  And, of course, I feel very sad and sorry for the many people who have lost their homes ... humans and animals.  Staying inside is nothing compared to what those in the line of fire are experiencing.

    Sally,

Best of luck with your aspiration and possible biopsy.  So often, these things turn out to be nothing, but wise to get it checked out for peace of mind!

My eyes are crossed from reading pages and pages of posts!

DH and I are still in Holland, MI, thanks to some truck problems.  But you couldn't ask for a nicer place to be stranded.  We're driving a rental car for a few days and will probably head home on Wed.  We had planned to visit my youngest brother in south Atlanta but I just cancelled those rv reservations.  It will be great to get back home even if we have to suffer through some heat and humidity for a couple of weeks.

Puffin, congratulations on finishing your chemo.

Sandra, what a disappointment to have your surgery cancelled at the last minute after all you went through preparing for it.

Mommarch, bad luck with the shop and the house getting flooded.  Wishing you a lot of wisdom in dealing with the complications of adopting your granddaughter.

Anne, hope everything works out well with your grandson's health issues.

Hi to Jackie and Chevy and Cammi and Blondie and MomMom and Mimi and Minus and Wren and Alaska Angel and Di and everyone else whose name hasn't cropped up!

Bushed as it turned out an extra long work day.  Can't complain though, got a meatloaf made and baked, as well as a big croc of spaghetti sauce.  Also have a baked chicken ready to go -- so just need sides for three dinners -- not bad  for an afternoon in the kitchen

See you all later -- I'm off for a quick wash, pj's and bed.

Sally and Sandra. I'm sure hoping things are brighter soon. It is always so scared when there are upcoming surgeries and just the unknown. And waiting is so hard. Thinking of you both.

I'm happy to report my first post rad treatment mammo went fine and things look as expected.  After three days in a row clowning around I'm feeling sleepy tonight. The hot water heater in the basement flooded the place and now I get the opportunity to buy new carpet and remodel the bathroom.  Do you hear the attempt to spin the flood into a good thing?  God night griends

Thanks to all of you for the birthday wishes!!  I really appreciate it!  I had a great weekend with my family watching football, shopping, and BIL grilled the best filet I've had in years.   DH and I took a drive to a lake this beautiful Ohio afternoon (put up auction signs along the way) and had dinner with my mom.  Thanks again!  You girls have really been a help through this journey!!!
