Newbie could use a little help
September 17, 2014 I was diagnosed with Stage llb breast cancer. After my visit to the breast surgeon, I was informed it was a grade 3, triple negative, invasive ductal carcinoma with a lump in my right breast and lymph node. My surgeons' plan for me is to have an MRI of my breasts , CAT scan and body scan this week to see if has spread to any other part of my body. After that I will start chemo for 6-8 weeks to shrink the tumor before surgery. During that time, I will see a genetic doctor to see if I have a BC gene and that will help me decide the type of surgery lumpectomy vs. mastectomy. That will follow with 5 weeks of radiation and another 8 weeks of chemo. I don't feel scared. I feel more overwhelmed and a little numb. Has anyone had a similar plan with their doctor that has been diagnosed similar to me?

Butterfly- So sorry you find yourself here. This is a great resource and outlet on a very long journey. Sounds like your BS has all the tests in place. You will know more from the MRI, as it is the best imaging diagnostic tool there is. Many ladies seek second opinions just something to consider. I do not have a similar diagnose, but wanted to send you a ((hug))! You may want to check the triple negative thread as well.
best of luck

Butterfly,
My dx is different, lobular cancer. I had a lumpectomy first, then chemo, then radiation. The process is a roller coaster, for sure. Barremom advice on reading the triple negative threads is excellent.
Posting on BCO really helps, we all have been there and understand.
