Confused about my tumour size.

Options

Hello Ladies,

Just had my third chemo yesterday. My oncologist asked for a breast ultrasound on next date. He will review the tumour size. Even though I feel that the size is reduced but may be not that much.

I have a question that I can't get a clear answer. My tumour size readings are

2.8 x 3.5 x 4.7  (APxTRxCC)

Searching from different forums I found that much.
2.8 cm Front to back
3.5 cm side to side
4.7 cm Head to toe

What does that mean? What is my tumour size in one reading? How it is figured out?

Thanks.

I don't know if this is exactly what you're asking, but the tumor is 3 dimensional, just like your body.  You are so many inches tall, so many inches wide (say at your hips) and so many inches thick (turning sideways in a full length mirror).

When the ultrasound comes back, they will tell you the new 3 dimensions, and if it's like mine, all three will be smaller.  I hope so for you.

Thanks! alexgram for the detailed answer. Yes this is what I am asking. Now when e.g. they say if your tumor size is between 2cm and 5 cm then its stage x what figure do they pick, the largest among three?

Good question.  I really don't know, but I'd guess they take the largest dimension.
