PASH three years ago, now a new lump...

I found a lump three years ago at 9 o'clock on my left breast. After an ultrasound guided vacuum biopsy the path report came back...Focal fibroadenomatosis, dense stromal fibrosis, small cysts and a mild intraductal hyperplasia. Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia. I was going to the local breast center and they said normally they just watch and see, if it grows then they remove it. My 6 month, one year and two year follow up mammograms didn't show growth, but it also hasn't gotten any smaller, so I still have it.

Fast forward, I just found another lump this past weekend, at 5 o'clock. Saw my doctor Monday and am scheduled for a diagnostic mammogram tomorrow. What are the chances this is another PASH? What are the chances it's something different? It feels the same as the other, if that is any indication. I'm also wondering now if I should have them removed if this does prove to be another PASH. I don't want to end up with several of them taking over my breasts.

I'm 44, btw.

It's kind of a toss up. You don't want the PASH obscuring other findings in your breast as you get older, but getting them removed causes scar tissue that can make your imaging harder too. I'd just talk with the surgeon and see which would be the better option-leaving them alone or not.

    Welcome to BCO BeverlyK, We're
sorry you have to be here, but glad you found us!

Besides sharing your experiences and learning from other members here at the boards, you may also want to take a look at the Certain Breast Changes section from the main site.

Every case is different and you need to decide the best option for yourself in discussions with medical professionals. Scaring can be a problem and hide possible bad cells later in life. It is a difficult decision.

    We wish you the best

Well, I learned an important lesson today. After my mammogram and ultrasound I was told it is just a cyst. So next time I won't freak out until I hear the test results. It's so easy to fear the worst. I wish all of you the best on here and I will be back if I ever have another issue with my breasts.
