Just got my pathology report after biopsy - High grade intraductal carcinoma focally extending to within 1 mm of closest margin, Focal non expansive central necrosis er/pr negative.  Any thought on proceeding to lumpectomy or mastectomy?  Seems the high grade & & margins but me at higher rick for recurrence.  Thanks for any advice on moving forward.

it's a really personal choice.  I opted for bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction.  This gave me more peace of mind but the cost was loss of sexual sensation in both breasts.  There are no easy answers on this journey.  Knowing yourself and the priority of your values will guide you. Also, you need doctors you can trust.  I would ask mine, "if this was your wife or sister, what would you recommend?."

    Hugs,

    Peggy

Thanks Peggy - I am also er-/pr- and that seems to be more aggressive - so I am leaning toward mastectomy with reconstruction.
