    Pineapples are great stash busters for scrappy quilts, but all the cuts waste a lot of fabric.

    I have so many fat quarters that a pineapple quilt would be great to use some of them up.  I'm happy the thread the scraps to use to stuff cushions with.....then there is no waste.....lol.

    Hey there ladies, just checking in - it has been a long time since I was last here.  It has been a rough year with mulitple hospital stays due to severe reaction to different new drugs and treatments.  Things are starting to settle down a little except that I have really sore feet and the LE is not completely under control yet, but I am getting there.  The aquatic thearpy is working the best for me so I go as often as I can. I have a wonderful neighbor who takes me when I cannot drive.  Well it is late and I need to go get some rest before DH gets up to start his day.

    My crafting choice is plastic canvas. Recently I made a ton of book marks out of scrap canvas and yarn I had laying around. I donated a bunch to the cancer center where I get treatment for those who come in with a book but have no way to save their place.

    What a great idea MOmmyof2!  I'm sure there are many, like me, who forget to take their bookmark and not everyone uses a Kindle.  Well done you for thinking about it!

    MelissaDallas - that Pineapple block is one of my favorites, and one I swore I'd NEVER try. Not enough patience! Yours look terrific.

    Meece - I love your giraffe theme! One of my quilting friends got an embroidery machine, and pretty soon, ALL the new babies in her family had special quilts with personalized characters and names incorporated into the blocks. 

    I really liked doing my pink and green baby quilt with the giant rick-rack. I just enveloped the quilt, which eliminated the need for a binding! (Can you say L-A-Z-Y quilter? LOL!)

    It came to me while I was there getting my monthly dose of Herceptin and Perjeta. I saw quite a few people marking their pages with a tissue or folding the page over to mark their spot. Occasionally I have even taken a project with me to work on and end up with orders for something because the nurses love what I am making.

    I found giant rick rack in brown to edge, or use somewhere on the quilt.

    Okay, I love this quilt. The orange will be borders & the turquoise floral the back. Those two fabrics are on the table at the top.

    Melissa - ordinarily, I never would have picked those fabrics. I grew up in the 50's, and had my fill of "retro" patterns.

    But yours - put together in that quilt - look FABULOUS!!!!

    What's that quote? Greater than the sum of its parts?

    I just happened on a picture of a fat quarter bundle & the narrow edges stacked together made me think of the narrow strips for the pineapple quilt we were getting ready to do for a class. Love the fabric.

    Keep your absolute favorites for yourself..........even though you love them all.....lol.  It's also nice to see the look on the other persons face when they realize that you are giving them something so precious.

    Wow!

    I have so many projects I need to work on.  I started a new job last week and I really planned on spending time crafting with the amount of time I would be saving on commuting.  I work one less hour a day and my commute is 6 minutes instead of 40+.  I also only have a thirty minute lunch so I am away from home from 7:15 to 3:15 instead of 6:45 to 5:15.  I did work on Lala's Halloween costume yesterday but have much more to do.

    I saw the sweetest picture on my Facebook page yesterday... my dear friend's daughter celebrated her First Communion. She had on a gorgeous white lace dress, ruffly socks, and white shoes. She looked like a princess.

    She had an American Girl doll that looks just like her. Her Grammy sewed the doll a dress that matched my friend's daughter's dress down to the last detail - lace, ruffly socks, and all. She found a small cross that matched the one that was given to the daughter at her ceremony.

    It was just precious.

    Meece, I was thrilled to get back to full time work in March after several years of part time, but it sure does cut into my sewing. I'm a paralegal & after a day on the computer lots of nights my eyes are just too tired.

    Well girls, as promised, I have finished the snowflake blanket and it has ended up as a king size throw.......a little larger that I was aiming for but I got a little carried away.......lol.  Here's a pic with it spread out on our bed.
