Lump in reconstructed breast

I found some small lumps in my reconstructed breast that turned out to be oil cysts.  These can develop any time there is an injury to the breast, and reconstruction certainly counts as injury!  Actually, I noticed that several women who'd had their reconstruction at around the same time as me were finding little lumps and they all turned out to be oil cysts.  This was about a year after our surgeries, so it sounds like you are right on time.  I had an MRI to diagnose them. My radiologist did not know how to interpret the MRI for reconstructed breasts (mine are flap reconstruction) and recommended biopsy.  My BS interpreted the results and diagnosed them as oil cysts.  They were pea-sized and were a little red on the skin and a little sore.  One was large enough to see through the skin.  They have gotten smaller over the last year.  Of course, it's always good to have it checked and hear the good news that it's nothing to worry about!  Best wishes that you will get your good news soon!
