Hi ladies I think I have a cold. Do you know if it's safe to do MLD and wear compression with a cold? I am going to try to get ahold of my LE Therapist but in case I can't I was wanting your advice. Thanks!

Hi Luvmyd.  Being ill never made any difference for me.  I continued caring for my arm in the same manner.  Tell that cold to go away!!

I just thought it could make the infection spread? Thanks Marple!

Luvmydobies, good question! Keeping your lymph system moving should help your immune system function at top capacity. If you have a cellulitis infection, that's different. Cellulitis is in the skin, and in that case moving lymph fluid is a no-no. A cold, though, will likely only be helped by keeping everything moving. And it'll keep you more comfortable too! When I'm sick I usually switch to wrapping or night garments as much as possible, just for the relative comfort of it.

Wishing you chicken soup and quick healing!

You're the best Binney. I received an email back from my therapist and she said since my LE is so mild that it won't hurt to hold of on the MLD for a little bit. I am about to get on a plane though to fly home to TX to see family. Ugh. Should be fun for the sinuses! She said to go ahead and wear my Spanx shirt and my arm sleeve on the plane and Spanx are okay at night unless I have fever. No fever yet but even with a cold I sometimes get fever. So I'll play it by ear. Stay tuned please in case I have more questions.

I also had an endometrial biopsy yesterday to top everything off! That was painful. I'm still having some cramping from it. He said it was ok to travel though. Hopefully he's right. The doc didn't think it would come back bad but I've been having burning down there for a few weeks and some bleeding since Monday. Three urinalysis' have come back clean so they don't think it's a UTI. I'm 38 and I'm hoping it's just hormonal issues and dryness or perhaps my period trying to come back. If we don't find any answers I assume a urologist is in order. I hope not because I already have enough "ologist's"! Thanks again!
