Having fever for last two days ranging 99 to 100
Hello everybody.
Just saw this community, found so much knowledge and information on it. Great effort
I am being treated for IDC. Had second dose of TAC on 25th Aug. Had three nupegon shots on next three days. I am having fever from last two days ranging between 99 and 100. I take paracetamol and it goes away for around 6 to 8 hours. Is it normal? What should I do? Hope it goes away in few days...
I feel bit chills and nothing significant other than lower back pain.
Thanks

I think you should contact your Oncologist. If you have a bacterial infection then you'll need antibiotics. Some docs say to call if temp is 100.5 or above but it's better to be safe than sorry. Please call and see what they say. Also I'd want them to be sure it's bacterial before administrating antibiotics. It you take them when they aren't needed it can create big problems, like drug resistance, plus they can wreak havoc on the gut, but IF you have a bacterial infection then they are a must. Keep us posted. HUGS!!

Taxotere did that for me, too. I had a fever with each of the four cycles. I took antibiotics each time the fever started and for some reason that cleared me up. Good luck. It's no fun feeling sick but it does pass

Definitely call the doctor. It is better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks a lot for the replies. I really appreciate that.
I called my oncologist and he said keep taking Paracetamol as long as it doesn't exceed 100.
BTW how do doctors determine if fever is due to an infection. Are their any specific tests?
I have had the fevers now since two days. Its 8th day since the TAC was administered and 4th day since my last neupogen shot.

My PCP told me that bacterial infections typically cause a higher fever like 101 and above. She also told me that bacterial infections usually make you feel bad pretty quickly. Glad you called your Onc.
It could just be from the chemo, or something viral. I think they can do blood cultures to see what type of infection it is, if they aren't sure upon physical exam. Also blood tests can see what type of antibiotic works best for a particular type of infection, I think. Get some rest and take it easy.

Finally my onc asked me to go to Er. Wbc count turned out to be 1700. No apparent infection as of now. Now admitted to hospital.

Yikes! Let us know how you are doing!

Thinking of you. Please update us when you can. HUGS

Dear @Luvmydobies finally after a course of lengthy IV antibiotics course I am back on my feet. Thanks God.
The wbc count improved from 1700 to 10300. I wonder was it antibiotics or the neupogen shot
Thank you for the support and concern. Love you all
