I have had my implants since 2008 and was just diagnosed on Friday.  I meet with my surgeon tomorrow but am wondering did anyone else have implants prior to lump/masectomy? I have a 1.38 cm mass up near my nipple. My implants are under my muscle and by the US look good.

    Hi,

I had my implants (saline, total submuscular, axillary incision) placed in 2008.  I just had my lumpectomy Friday 9/5.  My RO said that with the new techniques that capsular contracture is not as big of a problem as it was in recent years.  My BS removed 3.5cm total including margins and I look no different than prior to surgery.

I have had implants for 10 years and had a mastectomy of my left breast on august 14th. My surgeon was amazing and was able to leave my implant in. I had 2 tumors that totalled almost 3cm. She wasnt able to save the nipple, but my PS is thrilled with what he has to work with and says I am farther along than most women since I will not have to haveTE. I am still waiting on the results of my onco type test that will determine whether I have to have chemo.  But barring any additional treatment, my double implant replacement is scheduled for November 4th.

I have had implants for 10 years, I had the primary breast augmentation when I was 22. I have had a bilateral MX with tissue expanders placed, and my PS says that the TE are doing so well because I did have implants prior.

It was exceptionally difficult to decide to do a bilateral MX, but I chose this because I am avoiding radiation.
