claritin and neulasta....

I had my first neulasta shot and took a claritin before and at bedtime, I did a lot of reading online to make sure I was doing it right.

My Oncologist has a bit of an ego, not sure how he's going to take me choosing to do this without him, he didn't even like my friend writing notes!

I wanted to find some literature about it online, from a reliable source, but not finding any. Has anyone ever found any?

Does anyone happen to have the instructions given to them by their Dr. with the hospital's letterhead that they could scan and email to me??

I'd really like to have something concrete to present when I mention it to him, other than a page of blog posts.....

Here's a link to study information from the National Institutes of Health that might be helpful: LINK

I got a handout from my onc nurse that mentions it as a frequently used medication, but it's not on letterhead or anything official. All it says about Claritin is to "take one by mouth daily for 5 days beginning day of shot." I've seen other protocols, starting before the day of the shot and running 3 to 7 days. Good luck with your onc!

I was in a study comparing claritin to zyrtec with neulasta.   I will check to see of there is a letterhead.  When will you see your onc next?   I will see if I can find it in time to send to you!

My onc said to take one the day before the shot (chemo day) and continue one per day for 10 days or so.

I found it to be a big help!

I don't have bone pain, but then I don't know if I would have had I not taken the Claritin...

I didn't care much for his attitude. My gf was writing and he tells her that it will all be in the binder....she kept writing here and there and you could tell he was not liking it much.....and everything was not in the binder!!

I didn't want to walk in there without some sort of evidence to back it up. Some Dr's are like,"If I thought it was necessary, I would have instructed you to....."

As long as it won't interefere, I will keep taking it!

I was told to take one the morning of shot.  I did that and had no problems.
