BC AT AGE 25...AM I ALONE HERE?

Options

HI EVERYONE! I'M NEW ON HERE AND THIS WILL BE MY FIRST ARTICLE.

I STARTED MY FIRST CHEMO SESSION ON AUGUST 26, 2014. THE FIRST TWO DAYS HOME WERE OK. ASIDE FROM MY TONGUE FEELING WEIRD EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. HOWEVER, BY THE 3RD DAY EVERYTHING WENT DOWNHILL. I FELT HORRIBLE. MY BODY ACHED LIKE NEVER BEFORE.

AS OF TODAY I'M FEELING MUCH BETTER AND I'M BACK AT WORK. MY ONLY ISSUE NOW IS THAT I JUST GOT THE PORT PLACED. OUUUCCCHHH! THE PROCEDURE WAS FINE, BUT THE PAIN WHEN I WOKE UP THIS MORNING WAS TERRIBLE AND IT STILL ACHES.

IS THERE ANYONE ON HERE IN MY AGE GROUP? OR ANY SURVIVORS THAT CAN GIVE ME SOME USEFUL TIPS?

you are not alone. I would seek out Young Survival Coalition. You can call the HQ in NY, and they have message boards as well. Also some excellent publications and a DVD. There may be a local chapter in Georgia. They have recently changed their structure ,so I am no longer as involved. They have a yearly conference for young women with BC, which I highly recommend. I went when it was in Atlanta in 2010. Not a lot of younger women on BCO. Also if you are up to it...you could go to a walk and look for young women with a survivor shirt on. Good luck with your treatments.

Hi 1StrongAngel, I am definitely not in your age group but I wanted to reach out and give you a big, big hug.

    (((((((Hug))))))))

When I was going through chemo, I joined a chemo thread on this site for women who were going through chemo starting the same month I did.  If there isn't a chemo thread for August, 2014...then start one!!.  It really provided me a lot of love and support.  And when I started radiation treatment, I joined the Fall 2013 Radiation thread.  Again, very helpful to share with others going through the same treatment at the same time.

I had 6 cycles of Taxotere/Cytoxan.  Like you, I always felt worst on the 3rd and 4th day after treatment.  Felt like I had the flu and really achy.  I also had frequent issues with nausea and diarrhea, so make sure you have proper medication to control those.  I worked all through chemo, but I had a lot of support and did little but work and sleep.

I hope you are surrounded with loved ones who will comfort you during your treatment and I wish you all the best, dear one.

    MsP

Wow, 1Strong Angel. You are so young to be have to dealing with this. I am so sorry that this is happening to you. I am glad you have lots of survivors in your family, it bodes well for you! Drink, drink, drink as much water as you can, and just rest as much as you can, and try to excercise or walk when you can. Young survivors coalition is a good one i hear, but you are most welcome to stick around here, chemo is chemo, and you will probably handle it well, being so young. Just use the search function to the left, and go and look at things that interest you. Lots of good and helpful people here. I do wish you the very best, and you picked an awesome avatar name!

    Dear 1StrongAngel

Welcome to BCO but glad you found this site with its very supportive community. We are so sorry that someone so young has to go through this process but hope that the support you obtain through here will help.

You may be interested in visiting and possibly posting in the Young with Breast Cancer Topic as you are not alone on this forum with BC so young.

We would encourage you to add your Diagnosis (Dx) and treatments (Tx) to your profile as that allows other to see what you have and are going through at a glance. Just go to "My Profile" - link at top right in grey area of each page.

All our best and (((HUGS))) from The Mods

I was 34 I had a 4 month baby and a 6 year old. I was horrifying I was forced to go to a support group that a woman was actually thrilled that she was going on a cruise with her husband and couldn't wait to show off her new boobs.  I left that meeting feeling so alone I couldn't relate to a vacation. Would I see my daughter walk down the isle would my son be forever deviated if he list me at 6 years old. These were my main concerns I just felt like I was in a different position in life maybe their kids were grown up but I just felt like the only one at that moment that was in this crazy situation. I did feel like your alone and I was 10 years older then you. Good luck and please contact me if you need any thing or any questions I could answer. Sorry you are going through this it f'ing sucks.

I was diagnosed in August with triple negative breast cancer, 3 days after my 26th birthday. You're definitely not alone. Feel free to private message if you need some support.
