Fat grafting for Exchange Surgery - A few questions

My PS is planning to use fat grafting during my exchange surgery.

1) Should you be close to your goal weight or over by some for the surgery?

2) I am having fat taken from my knee/inner thigh area.  Are people generally happy with the results of this? What can I do on my end to make it successful?

My PS indicates that he needs to take a good bit, so hopefully it makes a bit of a difference :)

Any info on this would be very appreciated!

FLgrl32 - Hi!  I just checked and you haven't been on the picture forum in a while, but I had a revision with fat grafting about ten weeks ago.  He didn't have to use much (about 25 or 30 ccs), but what little they did use made a big difference.  They took it from my navel, and I had no special instructions other than the fact that they had me loading up on Vitamin C (1000 mg / day) starting about ten days prior to surgery and continuing about two weeks after.  I was leery of fat grafting at first, but both my PS and whippetmom are big believers, so I went for it.  I am SO happy I did.  I am a big proponate now!  It makes your skin smooth like a baby's and well, it just made a huge difference for me.

Go take a look and see for yourself...seeing is believing after all.    (I think the big reveal starts somewhere around page 14.)

I just had my exchange surgery with fat grafting 6 days ago and I am very happy with the results. My PS did the lipo on my butt (not enough to see a difference there, bummer! LOL!). Things are still swollen on my breast of course, but I can see where it smoth things out and I like it. I was very scared about lipo and had to be "talked into it" but it really is not painfull like I thought it would be. Same pain as a bruise, no more. Good luck!

I have a silly question that I forgot to ask my PS. I need to have a fat grafting revision procedure after my nipple reconstruction surgery (in order to smooth things out a bit) and I was wondering, is the fat grafting an office procedure, or a separate surgery?  Smile
