Feeling more positive today

I met with my PCP today and surprisingly, he made me feel a lot better.  He said that it is very possible that all I will need is lumpectomy and Tamoxifen given that I am ER+ and pre-menopausal.  He said that the doctor that I will see at Mt. Auburn is very good, and that they will have a tumor board to discuss my treatment options.  He said that he could give me the name of someone at Dana Farber if I wanted, but that my DX is very common and that he doesn't see the need (plus parking is cheaper at Mt. A, lol).  He said that the job of his office now is to make my life easy and handle all referrals and insurance issues and to not hesitate to call if I needed anything.  That was very reassuring.

The only down side was that I discovered that my BP is quite high.  I am on meds for BP and it was fine at my last checkup in July.  Clearly the stress is a factor.  He said that they would keep an eye on it and adjust my meds if necessary.  So instead of picturing myself with MX, rads and chemo, I'm imagining some minor surgery and some pills.  It may not turn out that way, but prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I'm glad you are feeling better today. It's all new to us and can be frightening. Having a tumor board discuss my case has brought me a great sense of peace. It's like having second, third and fourth opinions all in one place.

I am pre-menopausal and had a lumpectomy and node dissection. One step at a time, with an eye toward the future.

My BP has always been low, but not since my diagnosis. It has gone back down as I work my way through this process.

Keep us posted. You are not alone!
