edited September 2014 in IBC (Inflammatory Breast Cancer)

hi I woke up this morning with a painful spot on my breast that is red and tender  there is no lump there but this redness has not gone this morning and I'm feeling stressed and all I can see is inflammatory breast cancer on the internet - I realise your not clinicians but I am very scared and don't know what to do and I have health anxiety so worried about another trip to my doctor

    Dear sammc, We are sorry about your anxiety and worry about this change in your breast. As you have already noted we cannot diagnose you based on a photo or a description of your symptoms. Internet searches can often lead to more anxiety when faced with changes in our health care status. Others here will tell you and we will tell you that in order to ease your worry you will need to have a doctor exam you. Inflammatory breast cancer is very rare. Please see your doctor. The Mods

    There are MANY probabilities for what is going on this morning.  IBC is the least likely or at least among the least likely but aof course it is a possibility.  Remember that IBc is rare - only between 1% - 5% of ALL types of BC diagnosed.  It is even rarer among younger women.  IF every one who comes here having decided that a 'rash' on their breast was IBC (when it isn't but is some other non-related condition, IBC would be,the,most,common type which it isn't.

     Skin issues can take quite a while to resovle often.  No one here can tell you what is going  - only your Dr (s) can.  If you are concerned that it is more than a bug bite, then see your Dr sooner rather than later.

    (Stay away from that QUACK Dr Google.  There is,some,excellent info/sites listed there but there is also a lot of bogus junk.)

    thank you for your responses - I went to see my Doctor this evening and she says it is a rash or skin irritation and given me some cream to use. She thinks it has been cause by running the last day or so 

    i will use the ointment and see how I get on 

    i am a very anxious person and watched my Mum die of breast cancer so i panicked this morning and got worse throughout the day
