"Years" Later ... How Does Your Breast Feel?
I am 6 years from treatment and almost 7 years from diagnosis and sure enough I still have tender breast. Not painful, it is harder. But sometimes feels bruised. Still... After this many years. All Mammos and Breast MRI prior years have been fine so must be the norm post rads???? Dreading Thursdays Mammo. Ugh.

I am about 2.5 years from DIEP still getting more feeling. I still feel zappers on the nerves in recon breast and real one.
Sorry I never had radiation just reconstruction

same - I get a bruised feeling and often think I'll find something when I touch the area. It's not just my breast, it's the whole chest area on that side all the way up to my collar bone - worrying and I'm always scared to touch the area. Think it's nerve damage or something like that
-
I don't get the 'zaps' anymore, but it is still 'achy'...8 years out.
-
thank you!!! I get the achey and the very heavy breast if I forgot to mention it above.
-
I think it is just the new 'normal'.

I am 5 years from treatment and I still have pain and weird sensations going on all the time. I've brought it up to my breast specialist and oncologist. I've been checked and follow up with all my mammos and they continue to tell me that it's due to radiation. The sensation starts near the center of breasts and moves towards the left side. It's numb and tingling. I think when I had my surgeries more nerves were cut and that's why I have the numbness. I have pain when cough or sneeze hard too. I am currently having acupuncture done to see if it will help with the nerve damage. I guess it has become my new normal but it sure is annoying.

Thanks for all the posts here. I am almost 4 months out from last rad and the area from left armpit to sternum still feels really bruised and aches. I'm told my range of motion is good, but I don't think I could manage the strokes needed for swimming no matter how much/often I stretch. Add severe arthritis in my right shoulder from the letrozole and I am a pretty sore camper. After reading all the "absolutely no side effects" posts, it is a little easier knowing I am not the only one. ( Given the choice of relieving anyone else of their pain, I would gladly be the only one!)

Sue, maybe you should get a referral for some PT.

My mammo was clear by the way. Pain in the boob has gone. Maybe it was sore in anticipation for the mammo? (lol)

Could be. The mind is the hardest body part to control!!
*Glad you got the 'all clear'
