i have seen genie bras at walgreens and online there too or CVS drugstores - i like the barely there flexible seemless at Kohls.. and they make lots variations that are soft and no wires or no thin straps that dig in

Good job Marie!! We are at the top now!! I get my genie bras at Walmart - they are usually in that row up front with all the other "as seen on TV" stuff. There are also coobie bras that you can get online at http://shopcoobie.com They are very comfortable also but a little more expensive than the genie bras.
Lots of good suggestions from Sparlkle! I had a visiting nurse for 4 days after my bmx - she showed me how to take care of the bandages and drains and it was nice just to have someone to tell about all the things going on to make sure they were normal and ok. I did have to pay a copay for it but it was well worth it.
I too hope that golfingirl is doing ok - I worry when someone just disappears but I think some just are not forum people.
Mischief - I am getting anxious but not in a scared way - I just want to get this behind me - it is the last major thing that I need to get through on this journey. After this it is just my herceptin infusions for the next 9 months and my pill - which I haven't started yet.
Welcome Lovecat

Sparkle2014, Wow, What a great post!! I wish I had had a list like that before I had mine...read up ladies, this list is spot on. nice job sparkle!
-
Thanks Marie you got it done!!
Linda, I will look for a genie bra next time I hit the Walmart. Thanks.
-
I can't thank all of you enough for the advice (especially Sparkle)! It helps take away some of the anxiety. This is my first major surgery (the lumpectomies were a piece of cake) and overnight stay at a hospital. My mother is coming out to stay with me until I'm able to handle things on my own. I don't have a recliner, but I will stock up on extra pillows to prop me up in bed. I've got my Walgreens list and will do some shopping this week. I meet with the PS once more this week and I'll ask about pain management. I hear you about trying to do too much too soon. I've lived on my own most of my adult life and I'm not very good at accepting help, but this experience has forced me to be better about it.
I haven't decided definitively about shape and texture for my new foobs. I'm leaning toward the rounds. My natural breasts are petite and round (never had kids!), so I figure even if I go up a size to a full B, the round shape will be okay. Silicone - despite the risks - seems to be the material of choice, unless someone has heard something different?

welcome lovecat!!
Glad to have you part of our SSS group (September Surgery Sisters). I wish you the best on the SAME day as me. I'll be thinking of you and say a prayer for a healthy recovery afterwards.
Yes, ladies!! I did it! The mods are amazing!! I was reading the August group and getting prepared in my final weeks with my own "girls" lol, and then saw a message from another member asking how to get it pinned. The amazing moderators wrote back and told her to PM with anything, anytime.
so I dug through our names one by one & tried to decipher what we're each going to get with the date....took hours, I hope I didn't mess it up? If anyone's name is wrong, if your surgery date is incorrect or gets changed, I'll pm the mods and update it. I've added lovecat to it and waiting for the mods to update the new sticky pin up.
Glad to help our lovely ladies and know exactly which date we each have for what surgery. I feel it's important to cheer on that person/people that day.
I Love my group!!
-
Oh wow, thanks Marie for doing all of that work. It really is nice to have easy access to see who's surgeries are coming up so I can say a prayer for them on that day and encourage them as it gets closer. September is finally here!!
-
Target also carries the Genie bra in their "As seen on TV" section.
-
Hi Everyone! Thanks for putting all our names and surgery dates together MarieJune! Thanks for all the great info Sparkle! I hope you're still checking in with us golfingirl. It's hard to put all your thoughts/questions into words isn't it? Good luck on the 4th. Crazy isn't it Mischief? In August the thought of September seemed so far away but here it is. Sure seems to be going faster than waiting for biopsy results! Lol Take care all!
-
Thanks for the replies and posts. Four more days until surgery. I just can't wait to get this thing out!! I figure we will deal with whatever happens next at that time.
Also the list is great MarieJune!!
-
MarieJune, thanks so much for putting the list together. So much easier to keep people in mind on their surgery days! Well, and the day or two before as anxiety increases.
-

Leihla, I pray you make it through your lumpectomy with no issues. My heart and prayers will be with you. Many blessings to you.

good luck tomorrow golfingirl, MusicLady and April8. Thinking of you!
-
Good luck ladies!! April8...I was so scared before my surgery. I had never had one. But it was over before I knew it and recovery wasn't bad, even with those dreaded drains. Tomorrow will go by fast and you will be on the road to recovery in no time. Best of luck to you all!
-
Thinking of you ladies today!!
-
Best wishes to the lovely ladies going into surgery today. My prayers & blessings are with you. Make sure to take time to heal and don't overdo it. We're all thinking of you. (((((Hugs)))))

I just noticed I said the 9th for my surgery. It is actually the 10th. But no need to change it if it is a hassle...I will take the extra day of prayers, hugs and thoughts!!
Getting nervous..this week is going so fast.
Prayers for the ladies of today.
-
I had my last consultation with my PS today before my surgery on Tuesday. I always feel better after I get more information, but I'm still nervous. Thinking about the ladies who are leading the charge for the September sisters and sending good thoughts your way.
-
My lumpectomy was postponed for a day, so I go in for my surgery tomorrow, Sept. 5, and will also get a Sentinel Lymph Node Dissection. Thinking of my fellow September surgery sisters who are having surgery today: Golfingirl and April8. Best wishes tomorrow to my same-day surgery sister Leihla! Thanks so everyone here for the great support.

Hi ladies.
I contacted the Mods again about the update in surgeries (Mischief & MusicLady). They should get the email soon and the updated dates will be added to the pin-up at the top. I just have to PM them each time and then they place it at the top once they read it.
I'm more than happy to fix that for both of you.
Mischief, I will be sure to STILL pray for you a whole day in advance. lol. That was so cute of you to say.
The date will be updated, but I will pray like an angel that day for you, and the day before. I hope all goes well with each of the ladies going in tomorrow, and hope the couple of them that went in today are doing ok. We should hear from them anytime from tomorrow through the weekend if they are feeling up to it. I prayed today that all went well with both of our first Surgery Sisters to have their surgeries. (((((((HUGS))))) and ~*~*healing dust~*~* to each of you.
