Abraxane skin spotss

I'm in the middle of my second cycle of Abraxane for metastatic breast cancer to my bones.

I've noticed that that dark and light spots on my face seem to be more apparent. Due to my age, I'm almost 51, I know this happens, but since I started chemo it seems to have accelerated.

Then without thinking I started using Aveeno Positively Radiant which claims to lighten the dark spots. (Still waiting for that to happen.) *smile*

And then last night when I picked up the small bottle, I noticed it's soy based!

Not to be paranoid, but I thought those of us who had hormonal based breast cancer (which definitely includes me) shouldn't use or ingest soy.

I see my doctor tomorrow and will tell him all this and see what he has to say about it, but in the meantime, I was curious about anyone else having or had this problem?

What did you use to lighten your skin?

I even started using fresh lemon slices and holding them against my problem areas for about 30 minutes or so.

Yes, I'm desperate.

Any insight would be most appreciated.

I just started Abraxane on Tuesday so I don't know what to expect. I try to avoid ingesting anything with Soy, but was unaware that lotions and such would be a problem. Now I want to ask my onc, too! I have been using Aveeno Calming lotion to my face daily..... shoot. Maybe I shouldn't be, but it helped clear up my skin after horrible acne from Afinitor.

My oncologist was not concerned. My little bottle of Aveeno is 1.7 oz. He the amount is minute enough, so need to be concerned. Also, he told me that Abraxane was indeed responsible for my white spots being whiter and my dark spots being darker.

    Figures!

    Thanks for your comment!

    Hi Ladies,

I was just skimming through some other boards and noticed this one.  I was on Abraxane for 6 months and finished on 4/28/14 and never noticed anything with spots on my face.  In fact most people always said my skin looks great, which I was always glad to hear.  As we get so sensitive after losing our hair and other se's we experience with the drugs.

I had TNBC so it is not hormone based so I don't worry about the soy really but I just don't eat anything with it anyway.

Hope you are all doing well and se's are minimal to none.  Blessings Ladies...Lucy
