All is quiet on this forum!
It is quite cool here in northern MN today. DH and I played our last round of golf at Eagle View GC, the pretty short course just down the highway from the campground. At least the last round for this summer. I hope we'll be coming back next summer. Next Tues. we'll be departing from this area and doing some travel during the month of Sept., towing the camper.
I have to pat dh on the back. I asked him this morning if we should rent a golf cart for the round instead of walking. I know he doesn't really like walking because he has some leg pain. He replied that it was cool and we probably needed the exercise. And he was right! The main exercise comes from climbing the hills because the course is quite hilly.
This afternoon he's doing a little carpentry project for the resort owner and I am being lazy!
-
Carol, good for you! It's actually a great day for golf here in Alabama, mid eighties, cool for August. I lve to have coffee on my patio when it's weather like this
Tomorrow have sonogram and xrays scheduled to see why my stomach aches all the time. I asked for colonoscopy, but she said too risky because of peritoneal mets. Just want to get to the bottom of this!
Wish me luck Wilsie
-
Wilsie, I hope you get relief soon after finding out what is the problem. A stomach ache is a bummer.
-
You are in my prayers, Wilsie, The unknown is just too scary to face alone...
-
thanks, I would rather know what I am facing. I learned that we can't ignore these things. Hoping its nothing big, but I know it's something.
-
Hi girls! I'm in the city again, came down last night. There is a large BC conference being held here over the next three days and I decided to attend this year. I thought I might learn something.....lol.
I took some more pics on the way down but can't upload until I get home to my lap top as I only have my iPad with me. They were taken very late in the afternoon so the light is totally different.
Wilsie all the luck in the world to you and hopefully you can get to the bottom of what is causing you pain........unknown pain is just too darn scary for words.
Carole where will you be travelling to or will it just be a convoluted way home? Safe travels which ever it is. Good for you for getting onto the golf course to begin with let alone walking the hills.......lol. Must admit, that I've never held a golf club let alone played..........I could never see the sense in walking around a big open space chasing a little white ball in the heat. I preferred to chase a little black ball in a confined space.........couldn't get too far away from me.........yes, I played Squash. What a shame I can't do it anymore as I did so love to play.
Lisa, how did your onc appointment go? Sure hope everything was top top for you.
Aly I should post a couple of the pics I took when I was there of the black beach we went to, in fact I think I'll do that with the next lot of pics.
Better get my skates on and get moving or the cab will be here and I won't be ready.......lol.
Have a good day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy. Onc hadn't seen my blood work but told me to come back in 6 months. NED. cancer anyhow. So I zipped over to the zoo for an hour for a treat.
The baby orang was out playing very close to Mom and would go back to her often. She was training the baby by hiding herself in a canvas bag so the baby would venture out.
-
-
Yay Lisa!!! That's great news! That word NED is such a lovely word to hear applied to oneself. That little Orang is soooo cute!!! I just love his hair do......lol......talk about a little on the wild side! Like our own babies, they grow so quickly! It doesn't seem that long ago he was new born.
I'm so happy that you are okay and I'll bet you are pretty chuffed yourself.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
Lisa, those pictures are gorgeous! And the news from the onc is wonderful.
Golf, squash, tennis - none of them ever thrilled me. I have to admit, my thoughts always were - why waste time with a ball when you can DANCE!
Leah
-
Leah, dance was my first choice but my DH doesn't so I had to find something else.......lol.
-
Chrissy, I did ballet and modern dance when I was younger, in addition to Israeli folk dancing - the last continued for very many years. No partner necessary!
Leah
-
Leah I did ballet, tap and ballroom........partner definitely needed for the last one!.....lol
-
Lisa, great news! NED.
Leah, you made a good choice to dance instead of chasing a silly ball! I would love to take ballroom dancing lessons now but my dh pointblank refuses. We have never danced during 45 years of marriage.
I always thought golf was a silly sport. Also thought it would be easier than tennis since the little white ball is stationary. Imagine my surprise when I took up golf, swung my club and MISSED the little white ball! It's called a whiff and counts as a stroke when you're keeping score. Ball sports are addictive. I enjoyed tennis for about 26 years and then switched to golf. The tennis was better exercise and I was a better tennis player than I am a golfer.
When I first took up golf at age 56, I would walk because there were other women who walked. Now I rent a cart because the other women I play with ride in carts. It's too hard to keep up walking and it's just plain too hard to walk 18 holes and play, too, at my age, 71.
Chrissy, we'll be meandering on our way back to Louisiana. Our goal is to arrive home around the 1st of Oct.
Today is looking like a pretty day. Our plan is to take the little pontoon boat out on the lake and go through the motions of fishing. We seldom catch any "keepers." The resort owner lets us use the little boat when it isn't rented. This weekend (Labor Day weekend) the resort will be overflowing with the weekenders and relatives of the owners so the two resort pontoon boats will probably be in use.
I enjoy going out on the lake because we usually spot some loons. And sometimes an eagle flies over us.
Chrissy, tell us about the bc conference.

My aunt golfed from the time she was a young woman and finally stopped at the age of 90 when her arthritis got too bad. She told me she got bored at home after that so she started going to the gym for aerobics classes. Now, I know these are classes for seniors, but she's 94 now so is probably 15-20 years older than the other women in the class.
I wanna be Aunt Ruth when I grow up.

We used to go folk dancing. After doing the hora, I decided it was the Israeli secret weapon. Anyone who can do an hour of that is in tip top physical shape.

Hi all! Just checking in to let you know that I had Taxol #12 today. I am FINISHED with chemo! I actually got a bit emotional when all the onc nurses came over to congratulate me and clapped. I must admit that I will miss them. They are the kindest bunch of nurses I ever dealt with. I see my MO in three weeks. I am getting a CT scan in two weeks and blood work, which he wants to go over with me. Then on to rads. If all looks good I will see him every three months going forward.Lisa, those orangutan pics are adorable!
Waiting for some new pics from you Chrissy!
Wilsie, wishing you well on your tests. I will be praying for a good outcome.
Wishing you all a peaceful week, hugs, lilyrose

Lisa they are just beautiful. Have never seen a swan like those.

I had good news on my abdominal sonogram. They say the organs all look fine, thers is a small amount of fluid in pelvic region and tiny kidney stone. The ex ray did not show a blockage. This is a huge relief, but I still want to fix whatever's wrong with my bowels. Dr took me off one of my meds which may be causing it, and I am going to be very careful what I eat. Thanks for all your prayers, I felt the love.
Wilsie

glad to hear that wilsie..now to figure it out!
The San Diego Maritime Museum sponsored a Parade of Sail today
it was lovely with the tall ships..
-
Yay Wilsie! so glad you got pretty good results but now to track down the bowel problems. Sure hope that it is the med that is causing it and nothing else as a med can in most cases be replaced with another.
Love the ships in sail Lisa! They look so elegant.
Got home last night exhausted! I slept twelve hours, I couldn't believe it. The Forum that I attended was very interesting and had some wonderful speakers who reinforced all that I knew. Met up with a lot of the local ladies with ABC and early BC which was really nice and then visited another lady who had had a BMX on Wednesday. I did so much walking that I was in agony and it convinced me to go back on the Lyrica which I had weaned myself off a couple of weeks ago.......my pain level has already dropped so another lesson learned......lol
I did manage to take some pics on my way down to the city on Tuesday evening so the light and shadows are really different. Again, I haven't edited them at all, they are taken.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy
-
GREAT news Wilsie!! Now, find that med that is upsetting your GI tract.
Lisa, I LOVE the way the pics look "painterly" due to the water vapour/heat shimmer going on.
Chrissy, what BEAUTIFUL countrysides you have!!!
-
Wilsie, good news is good news even when it doesn't tell the whole story!
-
thanks, everyone. Sure wish I could figure it out. Afraid to eat! Got probiotic tablets, since I seem to be diagnosing myself.
-
Lisa, outstanding pics of the orangs, swans, and the tall ships! And NED! Absolutely wonderful!!
Lilyrose, great that you're finished with chemo. I can imagine what a wonderful feeling that is and I'm so happy for you!
Carole, hope you got in some pontoon fishing before the holiday weekend, and maybe even caught a keeper. My husband and his friends who go to the Outer Banks every October use what they call a "filet and release" tactic when they catch a fish "not quite" big enough for the legal size limit. Technically I suppose they do release the fish!
Glad about your scan, Wilsie. Now if you can just isolate the culprit for the pain you'll be good to go. Hope taking you off the one med will do the trick--that would be wonderful.
Love your pictures, Chrissy. I especially like the blue shadows in the middle one--looks sort of surreal. It sounds like going back on the Lyrica is helping with your pain but I do understand about wanting to get off some meds.
Birthday party tomorrow for DGD's 1st birthday, and Sunday it's homecoming at church. That's when relatives (children, grandchildren, etc) return to their home church for one of those "covered dish" meals after a special service. So, making fruit bowl for Anna's party in the morning, and will be cooking for Sunday afterwards. Busy day.
Hope I didn't miss anybody!
Good weekend, everyone.

Chrissy, Lyrica is my best med..
-
I had to go off Lyrica when I didn`t have a drug plan as it would be over $250 a month here. Now I am back on a drug plan but don`t know for how long as I am moving. Hopefully when I get settled I can get back in the plan. Cannot wait until I am 67 and the government will pay for all my meds.

There is a downside to that Barbe.

rabbits lasting a long time this summer...wonder where their nest is ???
