notbuyingit, we go to central WI. It's the family farm. If you decide to come ill PM details. There are two houses, one older farm house and a newer one. So camping is not rough. Although there are places to park campers and tent camp if you prefer!. I do hope to rescedule this year. Probably in September if anyone can make it. We'll see!
Much love

The orchestra should have rec'd combat pay for the GermanFest show at the lakefront yesterday - windy conditions knocked over the potted plants on stage, our sheet music kept blowing around despite being secured with clothes pins while we were trying to perform Strauss waltzes: what an experience!
Zogo, if your dtr still has an instrument, she can easily take it up again when there's more time. I usually tell people that playing violin is sort of like riding a bike. I hope your son is not a drummer (too many jokes, like " How can you tell when there's a percussionist standing outside the door? When he knocks, he speeds up")
-
LOL! Music jokes..... LOL
It was a bit windy wasn't it? We went to our block party or I might have tried to go see you there. But I'm not quite up to driving. Although I can use my cane around the house my PT wants me to use the walker outside and at home toward evening. So when I'm on a cane outside and driving yay! Looking forward to it.
Much love
-
Just saying hello. Hope everyone is doing well..I'm still going to PT, but now on a cane with driving privileges. Operations are not for wimps. LOL
We need to plan a get together. Anyone want to meet near Madison? Or the farm is still an option if people want a get away.
Much love to all.

we should! before we are all stuck in our houses again!! Summer's flying!~

Summer has flown! Taking my kids back to college already.
Anybody eating a ketogenic diet? Here is another article on the advantages with cancer.
http://www.examiner.com/article/ketogenic-diet-can...
(I've got plenty of info on this way of eating and places to find some of the key ingredients I use if anyone is interested.)
-
so what's different about this diet? i just skimmed the article but it looks like the usual - no sugar no flour no salt...
-
No flavor no fun? LOL
-
How long have you been doing the ketogenic diet Zogo? I would be cautious about high fat intake unless I were an end stage cancer patient, losing weight (or a pediatric epilepsy victim who is not responding to medication which is where this concept was first studied). The few examples cited in the link are not real convincing for the average person - they mainly described unique cases. I think there is ongoing research so we'll see. My usual motto is "all things in moderation".
I will be in Mequon on Tuesday evening, August 26 for the 7pm Milwaukee Summer Philharmonia performance at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, located at Highland and Green Bay Roads not too far from Interstate 43. It will be a nice program of light classical music including Weber's concertino for clarinet and the Surprise Symphony by Haydn. No tickets, just come if you can.
-
vlnrph if I remember! That's my usual problem. I'll try hard though.
Much love to all
-
on Wisconsin! I don't think a visit is in the cards for me this fall, but I will be cheering for the pack and thinking of how lovely this time of year is up your way. I actually want to come visit in the dead of winter!
-
And that was my 3000th post!
-
Cookie, love that you posted #3000 here, very auspicious!
This is a beautiful part of the world and I too like winter but it's hard to beat a summer day that looks like this:
I didn't take that pic but drove past an identical scene last week.
Can't make Mequon on Tues but I work in Madison so could meet for lunch most any day. After work is trickier because of carpool. ♥ to all
-
vlnrph, that concert sounds lovely, but I won't be able to make it either. Keep keeping us posted though!
(I've been eating ketogenic for over 3 years now. I just restrict carbs to a minimal amount and try to get all my protein in every day. I don't push fat, but I'm not afraid of it either. At least good fats like butter, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado. Plenty of flavor with all the options.)
Enjoy this wonderful August weather here in WI...It doesn't get much better than this!

Those Highlanders get pretty wild! We'll be home having a nice quiet weekend, remembering a year ago when we actually were in Scotland for our 30th wedding anniversary.
Just noticed that when I went to the last page on this thread, it's #57. Funny because, since I was born in 1957, I turn 57 next week. Is that some kind of "super-golden" birthday?

We flew into Glasgow then spent a week in Edinburgh with side trips to St Andrew's and Stirling Castle, joining a tour of England that ended in London. Our weather was also gorgeous, only one day with a little fog. My hubby has two Scottish names from his German parents but no heritage. It will be interesting to see how they vote on the independence referendum next month.
I would choose Colby cheese from central Wisconsin where we lived for 15 years for everyone (it's even yellow, to complement the golden birthday theme!)

Oh my gosh, I've always wanted to go to Scotland! I have some distant blood that is Scottish.
And Happy B-Day vlnph, Enjoy!!
Onco, FYI Eating cholesterol has nothing to do with blood cholesterol numbers. Check out a book on the Bestsellers list called "The Big Fat Sruprise" by Nina Teicholz.
Here is her speaking at a Ted Talk https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=Nina%20Teicholz%20ted

I might be up for a road trip this Friday: would love to see the custom tee shirt too. OK if I bring dark chocolate instead of cheese?
I used to joke that my untreated/non-fasting total cholesterol was a perfect score (in bowling!). Need to get rechecked now that I've been on the AI for 6 months...

Actually, maybe it would be redundant carrying chocolate to the home of a Nestle factory! Or, since I think the Burlington liar's club is pretty famous, I could pay homage to them by saying I'd bring it but not follow through?

YEAH! sounds like fun! can't wait to see the T-shirt! starting back to work full time this week with 2 9 hour days in the mix - thank goodness it's a short week lol - will be looking forward to a good time Friday!
