MBC - Your thoughts and feelings?
I am organizing a fundraiser for awareness and education of metastatic bc with all proceeds going to Metavivor. As mbc has been referred to as the elephant in the room, the elephant has become the symbol for this event named "Dancing with Elephants"
I will have elephant shapes posted all over the walls with the facts of mbc. I also have some quotes and thoughts from some of the women on the stage iv boards on what it is like living with mbc.
I am hoping that I can also get a male perspective as to how their lives are affected by mbc. I will write the quote on the shape and would like to include a first name so that it is more personal. If you would like to participate, please either post here or send me a private message.
I appreciate your help to get the word out about mbc.

I was 37 when I was diagnosed. I'm now 41. It is constantly in the back of my mind. I am still alive, but I had a disease that can kill you! A disease that I didn't even know existed for men. As time goes on, the fear/anxiety/doubt fade, but they are all brought back into full force whenever I have a weird pain or change in my body as I grow older. It is something that I will have to live with for the rest of my life, but I cannot let it control me. That is a path that leads to sadness, loneliness, and misery. I choose to live each day with a positive outlook and to enjoy my blessings!
Brent
PS. I don't know if that is what you are looking for. Let me know if you need something different. -
Hi Brent - thanks for responding. I was looking for stage iv replies, but since men's bc seems to be as talked about as metastatic bc, I may just incorporate men at any stage. Your post is just the type of thing I am looking for.
Love your attitude! "positive outlook and enjoy my blessings"
Stay well

Barsco ... could you please add the name Mike Eanes to the MBC list. He was a regular poster on this site for a long time. He died on January 1st of extensive mets a few years ago. I would love to see him be remembered. He lived in my town and we became friends. I still miss him. He helped so many on this site. I was able to attend his service and met his lovely twin daughters. They were so grateful for all the friends he made on BCO.
Thanks,

Hi Brent
I too thought MBC referred to male breast cancer. I would like to thank you for describing your feelings. It really is a help to me to understand that what I am feeling is not neurotic or foolish or just me but a normal reaction to a stressful situation.
I think a lot of ladies may be showing your post to their partners when we are told "Why worry? Anything can happen to anyone at any time."
Incidently the fact that my male cousin had breast cancer a few years ago alerted me to the fact of how genetic cancer was in my family and probably kept me having my annual check up year after year.
Lots of people speak about coming to terms with the "new normal" and your philosophy is great. I can't control what happens to me in life but I can choose how I react to it. At first I was filled with fear and dread but slowly I am realizing that "a positive outlook and to enjoy my blessings" is a possibility too. -
Good Day Barb
My Name is Francois and I am 40 years old. And I have MBC. I am scared to death.
Is the any other males out there that do have MBC.

how about both, mbc, male breast cancer, and IDC stage 4 (metastatic)? unfortunately high number of guys get that far due to medical profession not knowing about male breast cancer.
