Disneyland rides?

We just booked a trip this morning to go to Disneyland in October (my kids are 6 and 9 and they've had a tough year too, with me going through treatment!). I will be 10 weeks post surgery then - think I'll be good enough to ride everything? I'm 4 weeks out right now and doing really well.  I will double check with my surgeon, but since it's Saturday I thought I'd ask you gals first :)

Congratulations on your Disney trip - my family loves it.  I haven't been on every ride, but I wouldn't have wanted to go on Indiana jones so soon after surgery unless you're feeling 100% by then (it really jerks around and rattles the bones).  I think the wooden roller coasters would be similar.  If you're going toCalifornia  Adventure as well, my favorite is the Soaring Over California ride - get into the park as early as possible and use the Fast Pass. Download an app (there are several out there) that tells you the wait times for the various rides so you can minimize waiting in line.  If you're sure you want to do a character meal, book it now as they can sell out.  Speaking of characters, it can be hard to track them down.  We had great luck with Main Street first thing in the morning.  At the entrance, you can pick up a little sheet with show schedules and character meeting times and locations.  Even if you're in phenomenal shape, Disney is exhausting so take breaks as needed (a pineapple ice at the Tiki Birds can be a nice respite) and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated without having to shell out big bucks.  I'm sorry - I know you only asked about rides, but I got on a roll.  I think it's time for my family to plan a trip soon!  Have a great time and take lots of pictures!

I think I would have been fine by 10 weeks after surgery. My only concern would be the jerking of some rides (I am probably overly cautious about this in retrospect because of lymphedema--I have no idea if there would be any connection, but since my life is kind of consumed with it at the moment it was the first thing I thought of). I hope you go and have a wonderful time--it will do all of you good!

lekker - I don't mind the free advice one bit! Indiana Jones made my husband's bad back ache last time we were there (3 years ago), so I had already written that off.  We did the character breakfast that trip too, when my daughter was all about princesses, but I think we will skip it this time. I'm excited to go and get away from real life for a few days!!

I went to Europe 12 weeks out, hiked all over and was fine. But rides that jerk or throw you around would be probably a good idea to avoid. First of all, you don't want a problem on vacation, well, that is the bottom line! So take it easy.

Remember to ask your doctor about flying, it is suggested to wear compression, sleeve and gauntlet to fly. learn your basic Lymphedema triggers, sunburn, carrying a heavy bag...There is an excellent LE thread here...they can help you so much with prevention.

you are going to have a wonderful time!!!

I flew to Philly 2 & 1/2 months after surgery. Bought a sleeve and gauntlet for prevention.  Hit the lymphedema forum for flying advice.  I learned everything over there!
